• Continue to analyze the document and fill out the chart. If you have finished, read over the rubric on the back and make sure that you have thoroughly answered every question.

• Once you finish, you may work on your journal rough draft or revise Reading Analysis worksheets 1 and 2.

• Pull out the documents that we read yesterday. Now think about the question “Was Andrew Carnegie a Hero?” What do you think is the answer to this question? Give 2-3 reasons why.

• Your task: Based on the documents you read yesterday, you will answer the question “Was Andrew Carnegie a Hero?”

• Create a thesis statement. Write a clear statement that explains what your argument is and your reasoning

• HINT: Your reasoning should be a preview of your three body paragraphs.

• Example: Andrew Carnegie was a hero because he introduced innovative business practices, treated his workers fairly, and donated a lot of money to charity.

• My 3 pieces of reasoning correspond to my body paragraphs: Business Practices, Relations with Labor, and Philanthropy
