Twee leerders van Laerskool Wel-gemoed het onder die topdrie plek-ke geëindig in ’n plakkaatkompeti-sie van Cape Wool SA.

Cape Wool SA, in samewerking

met die onderwysdepartement vandie Wes-Kaap, het dié kompetisievir graad 4- en 5-leerders vir laer-skole in die provinsie aangebied.

Laerskole het almal ’n DVD enboekie ontvang oor hoe wol ver-vaardig word. Onderwysers en leer-dershet saamdeurdiemateriaal ge-werk en skole is aangemoedig omhul plakkate in te stuur vir die kom-

petisie. Pryse vir die topdrie-in-skrywings was ’n rekenaar vir dieskool en R500 vir die plakkaat.

Nicola van der Merwe en Rochel-le Combrink van Laerskool Welge-moed was onder die topdrie-inskry-wings en het albei R250 ontvang.

was oorheersend positief en leer-ders het dit geniet om te leer oor diewolmaakproses.

LS Welgemoedleerders wen met wolplakkaat

Laerskool Welgemoedleerders Nicola van derMerwe en Rochelle Combrink se plakkaat oorhoe wol vervaardig word.

Bellville-based entrepreneur Dr Louisevan Rhyn was crowned as one of four glo-bal social leadership champions at the re-cent Ogunte Women’s Social LeadershipAwards, held in London.

The awards recognise women in the UKand abroad who are influential leaders, con-nectors, campaigners and social entrepre-neurs.

Louise is the director and founder of Sym-phonia for South Africa, a non-profit organi-sation based in Bellville.

In 2010 the organisation developed a lead-ership development programme aimed totransform education.

“It was an amazing experience to be inLondon. We are thrilled with the impact ofthe process so far and we have to acknowl-edge our 56 principals and partners whohave been working tirelessly to effect changein schools around the country as well as theSymphonia project team who have been sup-porting their efforts,” said Louise.

Since the launch of the programme 56 busi-ness leaders have partnered with schoolprincipals in a “Partnership for Possibility”where they are tasked to engage in the mostsignificant issues at schools.

“Business leaders bring their knowledge

and skills and principals create the opportu-nity for business leaders to work in an areaoutside their comfort zone,” Louise added.
