H.I.D. lamps MASTER SON (-T) with PIA technology

PIA technology = reliabilitySON is the Philips name for arange of high-quality high-pressure sodium lamps. The Philips MASTER SON(-T)PIA PLUS and the MASTERSON(-T) PIA Hg-free are high-pressure sodium lamps with PIA(Philips Integrated Antenna)technology. The sinteredaluminum oxide discharge tubewith integrated antenna isenclosed in a vacuum soda-limeor hard-glass outer bulb. The discharge tube of themercury-free lamp (MASTERSON Hg free) is filled withsodium amalgam and xenon asstarting gas and the dischargetube of the PLUS lamp withsodium-mercury amalgam andxenon. The 50 and 70 W have astandard E27 screw base and the100 - 600 W a standard E40screw base. The cap mounting ofthe new Philips MASTER SONPIA lamps will be lead-free whichmeans that the lamps will becompletely lead-free.The MASTER SON-T (PLUS) PIAlamps have a clear tubular outerbulb and the MASTER SON(PLUS) PIA an inside white-coated outer bulb. The lampsemploy a ballast and ignitor inaccordance with IEC.

MASTER SON(-T) PIA PLUS:improved efficacyThe increased pressure in theMASTER SON PIA PLUS lampsincreases the luminous efficacy upto 150 lumen per watt. It is themost efficient SON lamp with thebest light-technical performanceresulting in the lowest energy useand therefore recommended forall new lighting installations andreplacement in existing (PLUS)installations. In order to obtainthis optimal efficacy and light-technical performance incombination with full retrofitabilitya discharge tube filling withsodium-mercury amalgam isneeded. The PIA* technology, thenew construction and the newZrAl getter are the guarantee fora reliable operation, low earlyfailure rate and improved lumenmaintenance. The new MASTERSON(-T) PIA PLUS lamps will belead-free.

MASTER SON(-T) PIA Hg-free:mercury-freeThe new Philips MASTER SON (-T) PIA Hg-free lamps, identifiable by the green ring onthe lamp envelope, are completelymercury- and lead-free.The MASTER SON PIA Hg-freelamps with newly designeddischarge tubes are fullyelectrically retrofit in existingSON installations. Also in the MASTER SON PIAHg-free lamps new constructionand new getter result in reliableoperation with a low early failurerate.

Hg free lamps are electricalretrofit in installations which fulfilto IEC requirements. Hg freelamps need a slightly higherignition peak than traditionalsodium lamps, however therequired peak is far belowminimum IEC requirement of2800 V. In old installations, withignitors with a peak notcomplying with IEC norm, this cangive ignition problems.

Greenhouse lighting MASTER SON-T PIA Agro MASTER SON-T PIA Agroimproves output and profitabilityin alI sectors of greenhouseproduction.MASTER SON-T PIA Agrogenerates a spectrum with moreblue radiation, optimizing plantdevelopment, producing morevolume, stronger plants good leafand bloom colour and extrabranching.

Applications- Road lighting

Motorways, Major roads andMinor roads in urban andresidential areas.

- Area lightingPlatforms, car parks, squares andindustrial areas

- Industrial lighting- Sports facilities

PIA* Philips Integrated Antennatechnology: reliable operationwith less early failures.Integrated antenna on thedischarge tube makes theconstruction more simple andmore robust. This improvement tothe design completely eliminatesearly failures caused by the oldexternal antenna with the bi-metallic strip. PIA stands forreliable ignition during the totaluse.

ZrAl getter : optimal lumenmaintenance and low earlyfailures. The function of the getter is toremove impurities in the vacuumof the outer bulb ensuring anoptimal functioning and lightoutput throughout the lifetime ofthe lamp. The early failures due tothe old Barium getter arecompletely eliminated.

New construction with lesswelding points: less early failures. The new construction with lesscomponents and welds extendsthe life of the lamp as it is morerobust and thus more resistant tovibrations and shocks.
