SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH Sunday, July 2, 2017 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Happenings At The Heart
Men’s Bible Group Saturday, July 8, 15
7:30 am
Christmas July Collection July 15 - July 23
Communion Service at Boulevard
Health Center
Monday, July 17,
10:00 am
Christmas in July
Our annual Christmas in July collection will
be held from July 15 to July 23. Our
recipients will be the Pontiac Schools
Bilingual Program, St. Vincent de Paul
Society and Matchan Nutrition Center.
The Pontiac Bilingual Program serves about
1,500 students in the district providing
supplies and services. Their program lost all
its supplies in a building flood awhile ago
and they are still rebuilding their supply
inventory.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society maintains
our own food pantry at Sacred Heart Church.
It also assists the Matchan Center in Pontiac
in serving the homeless. Lunch is served
two days a week plus toiletries and personal
items are given to clients there.
A complete list of needed school supplies,
food items and household items will be
listed in the July 8/9 bulletin. If you want to
shop early or see a bargain, our recipients
need most types of school supplies, personal
and family hygiene and paper products and
canned, boxed or bottled food items.
We will sort items on Monday, July 24 after
the 9:00 Communion Service. All
parishioners are invited to help us in the
Gathering Space that morning.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
The need to help others who are facing
difficult choices is greater than ever this
summer and they are so thankful for your
help.
Christian Service Commission
Appreciation Dinner
Thank you to everyone that participated in the
Appreciation Dinner! Whether you were able to
join us or not, I thank you all for all you do for
our parish.
Fr. Cavellier

Service Day!
Saturday, October 14
Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan
is again working with parishes throughout
a six-county region to organize a regional Day of Service in support of
our neighbors in need. Join us to give unified witness to living out the
Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy through local service projects
like sprucing up parks and cemeteries, helping those in need with
chores and tidying up around the house, stocking food pantries,
helping veterans, and other efforts. Learn more about service projects
in your area and register to help! Get involved by calling Joyce
Hyttinen at 248-537-3304 or email: hyttinenj@ccsem.org
Camp Sancta Maria
Looking for a fun and faith-filled
place for your children or
grandchildren to spend a week or
two this summer? Want to help
them unplug from technology,
develop face-to-face
relationships, exercise,
experience nature and give them
experiences they will treasure the
rest of their lives? Look no
further! Camp Sancta Maria
(CSM), located in Gaylord,
Michigan, provides wholesome
recreation and adventure in an
atmosphere of Christian faith.
CSM is a Catholic camp with one
- and two-week sessions for boys
and one-week sessions for girls.
Since 1933, CSM has provided
countless youth with lasting
memories. Do they like
horseback riding or want to try it
for the first time? They can do it
at camp! Want to spend time at
the beach and in the water?
Enjoy CSM’s own private beach
on Lake 27! Enjoy playing
sports? Have fun each day
competing in different athletic
contests! These are just a few of
the activities offered at Camp.
Other activities include daily
Mass, a high- and low-challenge
ropes course, a fifty-foot climbing
wall, crafts, archery, a trip to
Mackinac Island with a stop for
Mass under the largest crucifix in
the world, campfires (and
s’mores!) and so much more!!!
Fun, faith, and friendships
included at no extra cost! Camp
begins in June and runs through
mid-August. We also offer
Mother & Daughter weekends
and Father & Son weekends.

Calling to serve!
Be the hands and feet of Christ!
Join our joyful people who administer the Most Holy
Eucharist to our friends in the nursing homes. Sacred
Heart’s parish location has given us the opportunity to serve multiple
facilities; in order to serve our Catholic residents we need volunteers!
That’s where YOU come and live out the beatitudes! The beauty of this
ministry is that it is only once a month! You read it correctly, once a
month with everything provided and no prep time necessary… just
show up on time!
Sacred Heart needs volunteers to service once a month on Tuesday
9am, Thursday 9am or Sunday 9am – pick one or all three. Your choice.
This is amazing hidden ministry truly benefits the giver (YOU) as
much, if not more, than the person you are administering.
Still not sure you want to join? Just call and set up a time when you can
shadow to see if you like the program. Please call Laura Langlois who
helps to coordinate this ministry at 248-253-9220.
In Christ,
Deacon Michael Stach, Pastoral Associate
