Collaboration

Medical BiologyMedical Biology• Foundation course

• Regular standards based biology course with medical application built in

• Examples, case studies, articles, and activities

• Core labs (20)

• HASPI Med Bio Lab Kits

Medical ChemistryMedical Chemistry

• Second course in HASPI sequence

• Written by Darci Kimball from Castlepark High School in San Diego

• More difficult to incorporate medical applications

• Currently 10 Core Labs

ResourcesResources• Recommended Textbook

• Chemistry: An Introduction to General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry

Core Lab ExampleCore Lab Example06a - IV Drips: Making Molar Solutions

• Please take 10-15 minutes to set-up lab at your table

• Only making cups A and E• Follow directions to weigh 2 gummy bears and

create solutions for the A and F cups• Scales/weighing boats will be passed around

the room• Chemistry teachers…feel free to continue and

calculate the IV solutions

Medical Application ExampleMedical Application Example

pH of the Body• Questions included• Can be used as introduction, homework,

group discussion, or in-class review

pH of the BodypH of the BodyDirectionsDirections• At each table pass out an article to each
