Running StitchSimples of Stitches.

Used for sewing seams, basting and gathering.

Use small stitches about ¼ inch long to sew a seam

Weave the needle in and out of the fabric several times before pulling the thread through.

BackstitchDurable stitch used to repair seams

Secure thread at the beginning of the seam. Work from right to left bringing the needle through the fabric to the upper side facing you. Then, insert the needle on stitch back behind the previous stitch and bring it out one stitch ahead.

Overcast/Whip StitchSimple looping stitch often used inside garments on hems.

Used to finish the edges of fabric.

Can be used to join two fabrics together.

Protective Pocket• Must have all three of the stitches
