PROE Project Aim (UK Approach)

- to persuade ‘local independent’ lighting retailersto stock and promote a more ‘varied’ range of‘high quality’ (linked to EST ‘Recommended’products) energy efficient lighting and to combinethis with local promotions;

- to persuade ‘local’ ‘independent’ retailers tostock and promote the ‘most’ energy efficientcold appliances (A+ & A++ - often linked to EST‘Recommended’) to the general public.

PROELow-E Lighting

‘UK Lighting Association’Promoting ‘non-standard’ low energy lighting to retailers and consumers usingthe Energy Saving Trust ‘V5’‘Recommended ’products bearing their logo.

Energy Efficient Lamp Scheme (EELS)

A retailer scheme which offers a wholesale price less Energy Suppliers ‘Energy Efficiency Commitment’grant contribution

“Time to Change is the UK segment of a pan-European initiative to help tackle climate change by encouraging the upgrade of 188 million old appliances, still in use in homes across Europe, to modern energy efficient models.”

“Only the top 20% of products on the market can carry the Energy Saving Recommended logo so it's a clear indicator of excellence.”

“Accredited retailers are listed on the Energy Saving Trust's site, with a direct link to their websites. Last year's publicity generated 600,000 unique visitors to the Energy Saving Trust's site.” www.energysavingtrust.org.uk

• Through the six partnering EEAC’s we are working to encourage45 independent lighting retailers to join ESR.

• SWEA has already successfully persuaded two independentappliance retailers - Gillmans of Gloucestershire & Chadds ofHereford - to apply.

So, what can SWEA do for Golden Valley Environment Group?Well, first of all there is NO catch! Whilst SWEA is non-for profit organisation with charitable status we do still have to make ends meet! As this project is entirely funded by Europe so therefore my time and materials are FREE! I can provide the following:

• Talks / Presentations

• Marketing materials (adapting my templates to suit your needs)

• Contacts who may be able to provide you FREE CFLS, discountto insulation, cold appliances etc.

• Open to other ideas?
