PORTFOLIO AND OVERVIEW ALUMINIUM, ALUMINA & CARBON
Cleaner and more efficient aluminum production.
Reduced Environmental Footprint
Significantly reduced emissions with ABART counter current alumina injection.
Improved Operational Integrity, Efficiency and Sustainability
Gas Conditioning by HEX potentially results in 30% less conventional GTC size and Power requirements as cooling by dilution air is 1.78 times larger than for HEX
Primary Aluminium Industry SolutionsWith more than 230 installations globally, our aluminum technology has evolved over the past 60 years to cope with increasing pot amperage, more stringent environmental regulations and maximum return of valuable materials to the process. Along with increased production volumes encountered in the aluminum industry comes a rising demand for greater efficiency that GE is meeting with completely new and integrated approaches to gas cleaning, heat recovery, and alumina feed systems.
Gas Treatment Centers (GTCs)
Our Gas Treatment Centers (GTCs), built around our Abart*technology, add various solutions, such as heat exchangers and SO2 abatement, with benefits such as better gas temperature control, lower emissions and smaller footprint.
Novel Fume Treatment Center (FTC)
The Novel Fume Treatment Center (FTC) is also built around our Abart* but applied to PAH-laden fumes from anode baking. It also incorporates the unique GE patented integrated gas conditioning, fume scrubbing, energy recovery heat exchanger (AHEX).
Alfeed* supply-on-demand
The Alfeed*supply-on-demand horizontal transport and distribution system reliably delivers enriched alumina to the pots and is ideal for modernizing and modularization of the GTCs. This self-regulating, fully automatic air slide system requires little maintenance. Its compact form reduces space conflicts, and it can be retrofitted during normal potline operation.
Secondary Aluminium, Alumina & Carbon Industry SolutionsAdditionally for Secondary Aluminium, Alumina and dedicated Carbon plants GE possesses a host of dedusting, acid neutralization, multipollutant treatment and tar/VOC/Odour abatement systems from small pre-assembled units to fully integrated tailored solutions.
GE Air Quality Control Systems are suitable for both new plants and for upgrade of existing plants.

SUCCESS STORY
The world’s largest single site aluminium smelter, EGA Al Taweelah (also known as EMAL), is based in the UAE. The smelter complex was constructed in two successive phases, reaching a production capacity of more than 1.3 million tonnes of molten aluminium per year. Our Potline Gas Treatment Centers (GTCs) and Carbon Anode Baking Oven Fume Treatment Centers (FTCs) were provided for both phases, as was the world’s largest GTC, the first in the area to also incorporate SWFGD.
