The concept for the front cover was born form the idea of progres-sion from last years book. We established that last year was lacking in personality or identity. It is this that we tried to portray. This combined with the ethos of proof enabled us to focus on giving each student a ‘proof of identity’ on the front cover. As a result we asked each student to hand in a miscellaneous object that was representa-tive of themselves. Each student’s identity combined results in the entirety of the Fine Art courses identity.
The magenta on this cover follows the rule we set by using the colour on each page. The spine of the book would be a continuation of the background image. Along with the continuation of the Using helvetica Neue as the Header copy.

For the purpose of showing what would be debossed/embossed, we have shown ‘PROOF’ in black. This would be a blind debossing/embossing, therefore printing no ink, but leaving the mark of proof subtly. This will add another aspect to the publication, that of touch. In this case the spine would be white and text magenta.

For the purpose of showing what would be debossed/embossed, we have shown ‘PROOF’ in black. This would be a blind debossing/em-bossing, the use of a stamp deboss/emboss gives the impression of a stamp which runs further with the concept of identity and proof.
