The Strategic Plan is a professional project with specific actions to aid the implantation ofPharmaceutical Care in the society, through the Colleges and the General Council of Pharmacists.

Over three quarters (76,51%) of all the consultations made in the community pharmacy, it is the patient himself who asks for help to alleviate the cold symptoms or requests some kind of information about medicines to use. In 22,67% of cases it is a relative/carerand 0,82% correspond to others, who are the ones who visit the pharmacy

There are no important differences related to the gender ofthe patients who consult about colds at the pharmacy:

53,85% are women 46,15% are men.

With respect to age, over three quarters (77,64%) of all thepatients (men and women) are included in the age rangesof 18 to 65 years of age.

The reason for the indication is mainly related (94,2%) to theconsultation about a health problem, the cold or a relatedsymptom, as opposed to 5,8% who request information abouta medicine related to the treatment of the cold, without therebeing any dispensing involved.

The length of the problem referred to by the patient when he goes to the pharmacy has lasted from 1 to 3 days (68,7%).

The pharmaceutical intervention is characterised by dispensing an OTC medicine with information about it (65,64%), giving advice withoutdispensing medicines (11,66%), and sending the patient to the doctor (9,21%).

Without being a specific aim of the Action, 30% of PRMs were detected and registered, related to:1. The patient suffers from a health problem as a consequence of not receiving a medicine he requires: 46,18% 5. The patient suffers from a health problem as

a consequence of a non-quantitative insecurity of a medicine (RAM): 31,42%

6. The patient suffers from a health problem as a consequence of a quantitative insecurity of a medicine: 12,89%

3. The patient suffers from a health problem as a consequence of a non-quantitative ineffectiveness of the medicine: 9,51%

There has been a high participation of pharmacists implied in de development of pharmaceutical care' specific actions. The Pharmaceutical Indication provides of a more professional practice by facilitating an appropiate methodology that it iscomposed in the everyday activity of the pharmacist in his community office, helping him to offer to the patient the safest and moreeffective personalized solution when there is a “autolimited” health problem as it is cold or its associated symptoms, and givingenough information about the medicine dispensed to assure a rational use of it to protect the patient about the problems related.
