Basic Terms

• Base Flood Elevation (BFE) is the calculated level flood waters will rise during a Base Flood.

• AE & A1-30 Zones: Have established BFE’s.Low impact from waves.

• VE & V1-30 Zones: Have established BFE’s. Impact from storm induced waves.

• The Community Rating System (CRS) recognizes and encourages community floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum NFIP standards. Depending upon the level of participation, flood insurance premium rates for policyholders can be reduced up to 45%.

• Freeboard is elevating a building’s lowest floor above and beyond BFE. This is a built-in safety factor resulting in lower flood insurance premiums. This elevation is required in certain communities with height requirements that vary.

The Flood Log Flood Barrier can be installed either across specific openings or as a perimeter defense. Because of its modular design, this system can be supplied in almost any configuration from 3 sided arrays to straight linear runs of any length to a maximum height of 9 feet. Each application is engineered to suit its site specific conditions

The Flood Log barrier is a modular system designed to withstand high velocity water loads and to be highly resistant to heavy impact forces. It is particularly applicable to flash flood and hurricane prone locations in both small and large installations. Posts are bolted snugly to the permanently mounted wall plate and the floor, after which all logs are stacked and horizontal bolts inserted and hand tightened. Once the entire system is in place,

the horizontal and vertical bolts are precisely turned to compress all gaskets for a water tight seal.
