Reproductive Work

• all of the work done to care for, nurture and sustain human beings• cooking, cleaning, washing, feeding,

and the like• all tasks usually identified with a

mother or an individual who is personally responsible for the general well-being of others.

Productive Work

• considered much more important primarily because it is paid work• generation of income is equated with

expertise• earner has a more privileged position• reproductive worker, whose work is

crucial but does not generate income, may be dependent financially on the productive worker.
