Eleventh Generation Captain Roger Mallory (Rev. Thomas12, Reverend

Thomas13, Sir William14, William54 , Sir John16 , William17 , John18 , William19) was born in England Abt 1638, son of the reverend Thomas Mallory, rector of Charles Parish in York

Co. VA. He died in New Kent, Virginia Aft December 22, 1694. Roger Mallory was in Virginia when his father wrote his will in 1671. Roger inherited the Virginia plantations of his uncle Philip Mallory. He secured a patent for 2,514 acres in New Kent County in 1660. He lost this patent during the chaos of Bacon’s Rebellion and applied for a new one in 1688. York County issued Mallory a certificate for 750 acres in York County in 1660 that he evidently sold for no such patent was issued in his name. He was a captain in the county militia and a justice in King and Queen County in 1693. In 1698 Roger obtained a patent for 300 acres of escheat land. This land had belonged to George Nelson. His widow, Mary (—) Nelson, conveyed the land to Roger Mallory in her will recorded in King and Queen County 12 March 1696/7. On 22 December 1695, the Chickahominy Indians conveyed 6,160 acres on Pamunkey Neck to Roger Mallory. He must have died soon afterwards for in 1697 John Buckner applied for a patent to this land “he having purchased right from Roger, Charles, and Thomas Mallory, sons of the decedent.” The Land Office issued a 3,080-acre patent to Buckner in 1702. The General Assembly evaluated settlements on Pamunkey Neck and in 1699 “having taken into consideration settlement of land on Pamunkey Neck gave preference to the above three sons of Roger Mallory, bounded as by deed and computed at 2,000 acres because the said Mallory had been given other lands in exchange.”
