Overview
This combined coaching and workshop session is designed for drivers who primarily work in rural environments. Safer, more fuel-efficient driving, how driver behaviour influences risk-taking and factors predominantly in a rural environment are explored throughout the course.
The practical session develops hazard awareness and anticipation skills which encourage your drivers to be proactive to situations – a key factor in reducing driver risk and motivating positive behaviour change.

At the end of the course, drivers will be able to:
Explain the unique hazards and challenges of driving in a rural environment
Demonstrate safe vehicle positioning, especially when negotiating single carriageways and tracks
Describe factors that affect personal driving performance (distractions, fatigue, drink, drugs)
Demonstrate safe negotiation of vulnerable road users (walkers, cyclists and horse riders)
Undertake a vehicle check and dynamic risk assessment when entering rural premises
Recognise potential hazards and predict the movement of other road users
