When we started(many years ago…)

• strong political commitment• funds• open minded staff ready to make an effort

and well coordinated• a chip of spirit of adventure and of discovery

DD first experience

- Strong links between partners

- Strong motivation of both institutions to reach a common goal

- Availability to give up something (both parties)

The DD is ready and now?

• Spread the info among your students• Spread the info among other italian students (newly gradutates of other universities)

• Spread the info to your international partners

• Importance of the local coordinator to boost this opportunity

Promoting the DD

• Fix a budget

• Pinpoint the target

• Identify the best media for promotion

• Timetable the promotional activities

We signed our first DD agreement in July 2009

Erasmus for study

and research

We selected our first 3 DD students in September 2009.

Last academic year: • We sent our 25 DD students (80% with a non-

Unife bachelor) • We received 12 DD students from partner

universities

Present academic year:• Selection is not yet done but results are

incouraging

DD: today’s mobility flows

• English master degree• Strong international links • High number of non EU student applying• Strong departmental promotional policy

The Physics DD

Incoming European studentsIncreasing English degree courses and subjects

• strong political commitment• department(s) disposed to experiment• our strategy

Promoting English degree courses and subjects

• Coordination with the «orientation office»

• Inform your Erasmus and exchange partners

• Participation in recruitment fairs

• Participation in national promotional activities

English degree courses: a domestic problem?

• Increase the number of international students vs decreasing the number of italian ones?

• Attract only italian students with a good family background?

• Is it useful to have most part of the courses in English?

• Staff must be fluent in English: not so obvious
