Fast Tracking Cloud Adoption
Cloud CoE- Transforming Enterprise
• PoC Driven- Hands on Experience• Result Oriented – Idea to Production• Influence – Scale his/her skills
through others• Bold – Not Afraid of status-quo
Tiger Team
• Demonstrate Quick wins • Single relatively small • Gain Team Support • Leadership Demo• LSE • 2 month Sprint • War Room Action
Quick Wins• Build Reusable Templates• Share reference architecture• Strategy for sharing• Cost effective

• Road show and engage customers• Devops and Brown bag lunch • Train the trainers• TTS/ Webinars
Evangelize• Few Successful projects• Develop eagerness • Leverage CoE expertise, services and
tools
Scale and Transform
Critically important is that this initiative is NOT to do the work for the agency but rather to coach the agency through the learning process – that is to say, we want to “teach the village to fish, not feed them…

Case Study: CAPPSWhat is CAPPS?• State of Texas statewide ERP solution, the Centralized Accounting and
Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS), offers Texas government a modern, integrated statewide system to replace a variety of aging legacy systems. It provides a single, secure set of books for all state agencies as well as accurate, real-time reporting capabilities.
How large is CAPPS?• Currently, 100 agencies are using either CAPPS Financials, CAPPS HR/Payroll or
both.• The current plan for the fiscal 2020-21 biennium will result in:
• 113 agencies will be using either CAPPS Financials, CAPPS HR/Payroll or both.• 74 percent of state full-time employees (FTEs) will be administered through CAPPS which
represents 115,594 FTEs.*• 94 percent of state spending will flow through CAPPS which represents $92.8 Billion.*
*Excludes institutions of higher education. What are the Benefits to State of Texas?• Government and taxpayers alike will benefit from the transparency, efficiency and
security CAPPS provides. These benefits grow as our family of agencies increases.
Case Study: CAPPS – Move to Cloud via Managed Services
Why Move to Managed Services, including Infrastructure Hosting?• Sustainable Solution• Scalable• Cost Savings• Performance Improvements• Deep Bench of Skilled ResourcesOverview• CAPPS Managed Services planning began early in 2014, with the contract
awarded to Accenture in January 2015. CAPPS Production went live in the Accenture Private Cloud in August 2015. (8 month implementation)
• CAPPS migrated from internal data center on AIX to Accenture Private Cloud on Oracle database and Red Hat Linux servers
• CAPPS migrated over 100+ PeopleSoft HR/Payroll, Financials, and Portal (Interaction Hub) environments.
Case Study: CAPPS – Move from APC to OCI
Why the Switch to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure?• Sustainable Solution• Scalable• Cost Savings• Performance Improvements• Storage CapacityOverview• CAPPS OCI Project started in September 2018 and went live in Production
as scheduled at the end of March 2019. (7 month implementation)• CAPPS migrated from the Accenture Private Cloud on Oracle database and
Red Hat Linux servers to OCI Public Cloud on Exadata and Oracle Linux servers.
• CAPPS migrated over 100+ PeopleSoft HR/Payroll, Financials, and Portal (Interaction Hub) environments.
TPWD- Stepping into the Cloud• Why Now? • Advantages• Factors to consider • Who to subscribe for • Next Steps
• Taking advantage of DIR programs and being a pilot agency by being a front runner
Case Study-TPWD – CoE• Implementing Application Portfolio Management to
map business functionalities with underlying infrastructure • Current State/ Dependency Analysis and TCO
• Pioneering RPA and Cognitive efforts to increase workforce efficiency
Case Study- TDLR Versa on TX.Gov• MGMW implementation of TDLR services for Massage Therapy
and Massage Therapy Instructor license renewal• The integration is with TLDR's Versa system to our MGMW
platform, and is scheduled to go-live on September 9, 2019. • Enhanced features
• Redesigned modern user interface• Optimized flows for renewal (reduced 11 steps to 5)• TDLR account page for managing license renewals• eWallet for payment services (ability to save and reuse credit card)
• The integration services developed as part of this effort include:• Link license(s) to their MGMW account• Lookup user’s license details and display status• Update user address and send to TDLR system• Update Record Specific Data and send to TDLR system• Submit license and payment for renewal
