Humana People to People India in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), isimplementing the “Disha” project in five districts of Haryana. The project has been conceived and designed toprovide Entrepreneurship Awareness and Start-Up training along with mentoring the women to overcome theirbarriers and expand their scope of choices. The project aims to reach out to 14,000 women from Faridabad,Gurugram, Mahendragarh, Mewat and Rewari districts, and provide awareness about various entrepreneurshipprograms. HPPI is also providing three day trainings to approximately 700 women on starting-up new or improvingtheir existing business. The 15-months project started in September 2016.

In a short span of five months, HPPI has given Entrepreneurship awareness training to approximately 12,000women and business start-up training to 250 women. HPPI is glad to share that out of 250 participants in start-uptraining, 50 women have already started small businesses and 100 are in process to start their own business. Mostof the new businesses are grocery shops, beauty parlour cum cosmetic shops, ready-made garment shops andtailoring.

Following an invite, on 7th February, two of the new entrepreneurs — including Disha team members — participatedin a National Consultation on Entrepreneurship and Value Chain at the UNDP head office in Delhi where theyshared their experience of starting up a business.

Disha, is a three-year partnership project between India Development Foundation (IDF), United NationsDevelopment Programme (UNDP) and Xynteo, supported by IKEA Foundation. Apart from covering the mentioned

five districts of Haryana, the Disha project is implemented in NCR-Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana byUNDP in collaboration with Government, industries and associations; and CSOs/NGOs and other institutions.
