Directors commentary

On DisturbiaBy Abi Smith

SETTING WHY

Disturbia has themes of a gothic nature therefore I wanted to capture this within the scenery in order to create the biggest impact on the genre-type.

SETTING SHOTS

Extreme long shots help the over-all vision of the directors thoughts and the shots help to over-whelm the audience and put them in the right mind-frame.

SETTING SHOTS

Long shots I have used to focus the attention on the close surroundings and the costume and body language.

SETTING SHOTS

Mid shots focus the attention on the presenter to show clothing in more detail and a close encounter of the lip synching therefore making a close connection with the audience.

SETTING SHOTS

Close-up shots show the audience clear expressions in the artists face and the emotions that they wish to portray.

SETTING SHOTSExtreme close ups cover the whole of the screen focusing entirely upon one element too stress importance and an exact image. In my video my extreme close-ups are used to focus on eyes and lips so that the panic in the eyes and the lip synching stand-out.

The music The genre of the video is important but also is the timing and fitting in of the music within the shots. During the video I have tried to cut my shots to fit in with the fast beats, areas of stressed singing and instrumental parts.
