1. Click to create a new database.

2. Click File menu and select Save as.3. Enter the file name: Hoodinner_(user name)_(date).df

4. Click Save to save the database.

1. Click DFE  menu (See Figure 1).

2. Select Preparation.3. Click IMPORT  under File Menu (See Figure 2).

4. Select file location: …/Tutorial3_HoodInner. 

5. Select file: hood_inner.igs (See Figure 2). 

6. Click OK button to import part geometry.

7. All parts are added into Die part  After, the color of its letters turns from red to

black (See Figure 4).

1. Select DFE   Preparation  Click Flange (See Figure 5) .

2. Click Add to Part (See Figure 6).

3. Select flange surfaces on the screen (These surfaces will not be formed

during drawing) (See Figure 7), and add flanges surfaces (See Figure 8)

into Flange.

1. Click Die part  (See Figure 9), and click Surface Mesh (See Figure 10).

2. Surfaces in Current Tool (Die Part ) are selected and highlighted(See Figure11).

3. Key in the Max. Size: 20.00 (mm)

4. Click Apply  to mesh. 

5. Click Yes to accept mesh.

6. Click Exit  to exit the Surface Mesh dialog box.7. Toggle on Show Current Tool under Display  menu to see Die part only (See

Figure 12) .

8. Click to save the database.

1. Click DFE   Preparation Symmetry .

2. Select Symmetry: Half Symmetry Input  (SeeFigure13).

3. Select x-z plane to define symmetry type.

4. Click Select Point(s) to define symmetry plane.

5. Select a node as shown in Figure 14.

6. Change the value of Align Nodes to 0.1, andclick Align Nodes button. Select Yes in the

displayed window (See Figure 15). 

7. Click Mirror Geometry  to mirror the other half of

part (See Figure 16).

8. Save the database.

1. Select TIPPING from DFE / Preparation. 

2. Define Tipping Center : 30 , 0 , 0 .

3. Toggle on Undercut  (See Figure 17).

4. The parts are all green as shown in Figure 18, so the stamping directions

do not need to be adjusted.

1. Click DFE Preparation  Boundary Fill   Inner Fill  

2. Select the first icon Auto (See Figure 19).3. Click Add . The program will highlight all holes. Click on the middle mouse button

to confirm the selected holes to be filled in the current view (Note: click on the

left mouse button to remove the filled holes and the right mouse button to cancel

last selected hole, as illustrated in Figure 20 and 21). The inner holes will be

filled automatically.

4. Click  Apply to fill all highlight holes. All filled holes are added to the list (See

Figure 22).

5. Click to show the top view (Figure 23).

1. Click DFE Preparation   Boundary Fill   Boundary Smooth

2. Click Add, then select outer boundary of Die Part.

3. Use Global smooth type to smooth Die part. Key in Radius: 300.00 mm (See

Figure 24).

4. Click Preview . 

5. Click Apply  to fill the smooth regions (See Figure 25).

1. Click Binder  in Tool preparation for DFE (See Figure 26). 2. Select Binder Type: Flat Binder  (See Figure 27. 3. Key in Binder Margin: 400.00 (mm)

4. Key in shift : 30.00(mm)

5. Click Apply  to create binder and the letter color of Create turns from red to black.

6. Click Exit to exit the Binder dialog box.

7. Save the database.

1. Click Adden. in Binder (See Figure 29).

2. Click New  in the Addendum dialog box to create a new master (See Figure30).

3. Double click PO Width and Bar Height value to modify master profile

parameters: PO Width=40, Bar Height=-10  (See Figure 31).

1. Click Assign button in Addendum group (See Figure 32).

1. Click Edit in Addendum group (See Figure 36).2. Select Smooth and POP line (See Figure 37).

3. Click Apply . 

4. Select Through Fixed Points (See Figure 38).

5. Use the rotation and zooming buttons to check the region as

shown in Figure 39.6. Click Select Fixed Points and select four nodes on addendum, as

shown in Figure 39.

7. Click Preview . 

8. Click Apply . 

9. Click OK . 10.Click Close to close Smooth Addendum dialog box.

2. Select POP Line, Profile Line, Addendum Surface (See Figure 41), and click

 Apply   to generate addendum surface automatically (See Figure 42).

1. Select BINDER TRIM  (See Figure 43).

2. Select binder type: Outer3. Toggle off Surface.

4. Click Select  (See Figure 44).

5. Select trim line (See Figure 45).

6. Click Ok to confirm.

7. Click Apply . 8. Click Yes to accept the displayed line.

9. Toggle off all the parts except C_BINDE1 (See Figure 46).

10.Click to save the database.
