Glad to have you…

Virtual handshake!

As you enter class there are a few things you can do to get yourself started in the right direction!

Step 1: Read course SyllabusStep 2: Read Course Information MaterialStep 3: Introduce yourself on the Introductions ForumStep 4: Read Week 1 Outline

It may be helpful to review the course outline and plan for the assignments and due dates outlined.

This can be found in both the syllabus and in the course material section.

Due dates are consistent throughout the course allowing one to develop a rhythm to their online participation and assignment completion; hence making for smooth sailing!

What? Why? Where? How? When? Who?

All good questions! The more questions the merrier! The only

silly question is the one left unasked!

Remember ADDIE from Instructional Systems Design (ISD)?

We are going to into the 2 D’s in

ADDIE; Design and Develop.

By learning techniques in this class we hope to adult learning!

(click to hear)

We will review ADDIE this week as well as review the importance of planning in Training design

Another EXCITING part of this week is each student will choose a training project to work on throughout the course! Whoohooooo!

This week we will cover the why and how of opening activities such as ice breakers.

Each student will have the amazing opportunity to determine the best opening activity for their chosen project!

This feeling might be something like…

This week we will discover the many ways in which to deliver content that is engaging, facilitates learning, and gets away from BORING lecture!

And yes! Students will choose ways in which they can deliver content in their projects that is creative!

Games are often used in training. This week we will look at the specific reason WHY a game is used, which game to use when; and how to capitalize on the games used in a training.

Oh! Would you like to have a game in your project?????

This week we will summarize where we are so far in class with the elements we have learned. What is crucial to have in a training design?

A short essay will be due from each student this week to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts!

For all of you CTD446 students, this is clearly “demonstrating competency,” yes?

What order does what go in; and why? This will be our focus this week. How to capitalize the most on the activities and content placed in your training. Often trainers will move activities and content around when presenting designed material-this should be done with purpose and intent!

Back to our projects!!!! Yes, you lucky devils, you will have the opportunity to sequence some events in your project!

Not really the end. We are still chugging along! However, we will look at concluding a training this week.

How might you conclude YOUR project? Why? What is the goal?

This is the week we focus on how to take the concepts presented back to the environment in which they will be used-application and retention matter!!!!

How will you ensure your training project material is applied?

Whewwwwwww! By now we have covered A LOT of material! So this week we will focus on how everything fits into a training plan!!!

Your assignment THIS week is to begin work on your final project!! Whoohoo!!!

For those of you who have already taken CTD440, your final project in that class can be updated to fit the objectives in this class! How cool is that? Or, you can use the project you have worked on throughout class and place this inside of a training plan. Either way, by now, most of your work has been done, yes?

We will conclude the course this week with course evaluations and learning summaries.

Final projects will be turned in. Sadly, we will also be saying our

goodbyes….

Go read the course Syllabus! Then read Course Information.. And then….

› INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO THE CLASS!!!
