Goal for today: Begin to identify what excellence for students looks like in Brighton. We will then use this information as a lens for interpreting the demands of the Regents Reform.

Strategic Goal #1

All students should continue to be provided with every opportunity to graduate from Brighton with the skills necessary to move on to college or a career while pursuing the life goals that are important to them.

Process—Part One• Group work

Share your thoughts on the article/video. 1. What were the big ideas? Create a one sentence

summary to share with your next group.2. What relationship did the content have to your

definition of Brighton excellence?3. What was missing? (i.e. What else is important in

Brighton?)

Regroup-With your new group, please share your summary of the article/video you accessed. Individually, consider the following:

How should we define “excellence” for our students?

• Use Post-It notes to capture your ideas (1 idea/note)

• Share among your group members. Categorize everyone’s ideas and place on chart paper for sharing out with whole group.

• * those that need further definition

Final Steps for Today

• Group Sharing• Next Steps-– Are the ideas complete?– Are there any for which we need further

study/information?• Review for next meeting.

Goal for today: Begin to identify what excellence for students looks like in Brighton. We will then use this information as a lens for interpreting the demands of the Regents Reform.
