APPLICATIONGUIDELINES FORPRODUCERS,DIRECTORSANDWRITERS

TheCambridgeFootlightsandtheCambridgeUniversityAmateurDramaticClubaretwoofthelargestandmostprestigioustheatresocietiesinCambridge,bothwithlong---standingandwell---deservedreputationsforexcellence.EveryyearthesetwosocietiescollaboratetostagetheADC/FootlightsPantomime–anexcitingandinnovativepieceofstudentwriting.

ThePantomimeenjoys13performancesintheADCTheatreduringthelasttwoweeksofMichaelmasTerm.Thebulkofpreparationtakesplaceoverthesummer–thewriter(s)willaimtohaveacompletedscript/scorereadyforauditionsinthefirstweekofMichaelmasTerm.

Makinganapplication

Applicationstowrite,directorproducethe2016CUADC/FootlightsPantomimeshouldbeemailedtoSheannaPatelmaster(president@cuadc.org)beforeMiddayonWednesday11thMay.

Youmayonlyapplyindividuallyorasagroupofthesameprofession

Allapplicantsshouldincludeasummaryofrelevantexperienceandcontactdetails(college,emailaddress,mobilenumber),andstatewhentheywillbeunavailableduringtherelevantinterviewperiod(seebelow),asinterviewsarenotusuallymoveable.

YouarealsowelcometoapplyforanyothershowsduringtheADCshowselectionround.WewillbeaimingtohaveselectedtheProducerandDirectorbeforetheShowSelectioninterviewsonthe14thand15th,soyouwouldbeabletowithdrawyourapplicationbeforeinterviewsstart.Theselectiondate forWriterswilldependuponwhentheProducerandDirectorwhoareselectedareavailabletointerview.SoifyouareawriterpleaseapplyforanyothershowsduringtheADCshowselectionroundandwewillnottakeitintoconsiderationwhenselectingwritersforPanto.

Guidelines

Ifyouareapotentialproducer/producingteam,pleasewriteabriefapplicationofnomorethan2pages,includingwhyyouwouldliketotakeontheproduction.Youmayliketoinclude:

• Themainchallengesyouexpecttoencounterduringtheproductionprocessandhowyouwillovercomethem

• WhatyoucoulddotomakethisthemostexcitingpantomimeyetIfyouareapotentialdirector/directingteam,pleasewriteabriefapplicationofnomorethan2pagesaboutwhyyouwouldliketotakeontheproduction.Youmayliketoinclude:

• Yourroleduringthewritingprocessandrelationshipwiththewritingteam.• Themainchallengesposedbytheprojectasawholeandhowyouwillovercome

them.• Howyouwillapproachrehearsals.

Ifyouareapotentialwriter/writingteam,pleasewriteanapplicationofnomorethan4pagesaboutyourideasforthescript,including

• Aplotsynopsis• Acharacterbreakdown• Ideasforlocationandsetting• Initialideasforsongs

Pleasealsocommentonhowyouwillapproachthewritingprocessoverthesummerandthentheproductionprocess,includingworkingwiththedirector,duringterm.

AjointCUADC/Footlightspanelwillthenreviewalloftheapplicationsandinviteashortlistofproducersanddirectorstointerview.Oncetheproducer(s)andthedirector(s)areappointed,theywilljointhepaneltointerviewandselectthewriters.Wewillalsobeaskingtheproducerstojointhepaneltointerviewandselectthedirector.

andforDirectorsonFriday13thMay
