At the 2009 PBAPro-Amevent, my two boyswere lucky enough to have the 2007-2008PBA Rookie of the Year, Rhino Page,participating with them on the lanes. Tylerhad been having a really tough time withmanaging his symptoms and we hoped thatdoing something he really enjoyed wouldmake him feel better. As I watched Rhinointeract with Tyler, it touched my heart tosee the joy and happinessthat came acrosshis face. Tyler looked the happiest I had seenhim since he was diagnosed. I went to Rhinoat the end and thanked him many times forshowing both my boys such a good time,especially Tyler. I shared with Rhino thestruggles that Tyler deals with daily and hewas speechless. He couldn't believe, afterspendingtime with Tyler that he could be sosick and suffering the way he was. Rhinodecided at that moment that he wanted tohelp Tyler, as well as other children whosuffer from Crohn's and Colitis. The first twoevents collectively raised almost $50,000 forthe Crohn's and Colitis Foundation ofAmerica. - Patti Cacioppo

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Americais a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization

dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's

disease and ulcerative colitis. It was foundedin 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal,

William D. and Shelby Modell,and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D.

Four decades ago, the Crohn's & ColitisFoundation created the field of Crohn's

disease and ulcerative colitis research. Today,the Foundation funds cutting-edge studies at

major medical institutions, nurturesinvestigators at the early stages of their

careers, and finances underdeveloped areasof research. Educational workshops and

symposia, together with our scientific journal,Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical

professionals to keep pace with this rapidlygrowing field. No wonder the National

Institutes of Health has commended theFoundation for "uniting the research

community and strengthening IBD research."

Our MissionTo cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis,and to improve the quality of life of children
