Objective:

Introduction:

It is branch of dentistry which deal with appearance of the teeth

It is pertaining to sense of beautiful

Types of cosmetic dentistry : A- Generally:

Shape Female teeth is different from male teeth

They are necessary for good appearance face and smile

Surface texture

- Break up the light reflection

- Young teeth has various surface character

- Old teeth become more smoothing and lack of surface texture

ColorAccording

According to age

increase in dark color with age

TranslucencyIt plays an important role in aesthetic .

The light penetrate the natural enamel but doesn't penetrate the metallic restoration.

So we replace the metallic restoration by free metallic restoration to reflect the translucency of natural teeth.

Repairing procedures in operative

1 -Luminaire2 -Veneer

Thin layer (2,-4,) which made from specific porcelain

Compensation1-Certain porcelain (reinforced feld spar) and plastic material

The difference between Luminere and veneer is that luminere need a little preparation without need of local anesthesia.

 1 -Little or no preparation need so more conservative

Are thin shells of porcelain (0.4-0.7 mm) designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve appearance

Indications:1 .Teeth discolored by tetracycline staining

2. Enamel defects , e.g., enamel hypoplasia,

3 .Lesions caused by erosion

and abrasion .

4 .Diastema closure.

5. Malpositioned teeth.

6 .Poor restorations.

7. Wear patterns.

8. Agenesis of the lateral incisor.

Contraindication:1 .Poor oral hygiene.

2 .Oral habits,eg. Bruxism.

3 .Class III malocclusion.

4 .High caries rate.

5 .Large spaces or diastema.

6 .Severe Malpositioned teeth.

7 .Unsufficient enamel available for bonding.

Advantages:1 -Very conservative.

2 -Offer better inherent color and natural look.

3 -Tissue tolerance is excellent.

4 -Less staining.

5 -The bond of etched porcelain veneer to enamel is stronger than other.

6- Wear and abrasion resistance is high.

7- The aesthetics are better than any other veneer material.

8- Porcelain veneer allow transmission of light.

Disadvantage:

1 -Expensive 2- Tooth preparation3- Highley sensitive technique 4- Sensitivity5- It has number of limitation

Recommendation

1 -Ask the patient to improve her or his oral hygiene

2 -Ask the patient to follow of post restorative instruction

3 -Ask the patient that don't forget recall to ensure that their restorative filling free from any caries

Conclusion:1 -The cosmetic dentistry focus in improvement of

aesthetic

2 -Role of each element of aesthetic in beautiful smile

3 -Free metal restoration produce natural appearance

4 -Role of cosmetic dentistry in psychological improvement so only dentist who has excellent skill should make cosmetic restoration to produce beautiful smile

5- Each case has specific type of treatment

6- The ceramic laminate veneer remains the prosthetic restoration that best compiles the principles of present-day aesthetic dentistry

7- It is the most conservative restoration, which preserves a significant proportion of the natural enamel

8- It need a good care, attention and follow up
