Ban Chong Feun is a fishery village in Tambon Ko Mhak, Pak Payoon District, Phattalung Province Ko Mhak is the second largest island in Songkhla Lake, situated in the middle Songkhla Lake Population approx. 7,000

Activity #1: Launching of the MRC project

with civic organizations in the area@ Co-op Savings Office, 19 Jan 2014

Output:Participants understood the project’s objectives and planned activities, especially the activities which the community must prepare teams to co-operate with the project.

Activity #2: PSC Meeting

to develop the operation plan for the project@ Co-op Savings Office, 25 Feb 2014

Output:Developed the project operation plan; Identified tasks & responsibilities of each sub-teamIdentified indicators for each task, which are aligned with both MRC project and the community’s needs.

Activity #3: Forum to explain the project to the network

of fishery organizations around Songkhla Lake

Output:The network understood the objectives of the project, its significance and implication to the community; The network saw the benefits of integrating this project into other existing activities within the area;The network saw the need to upgrade their activities, so as to make happen system integration of upstream – midstream – downstream activities.

Activity #4: Forum to explain the project to the ‘Protect the Lake’ network in Songkhla & Phattalung

Output:The network understood the objectives of the project, its significance and implication to the community; The network proposed the mechanism for operating the project whereby the project should be community-centered, which can link the policy making agencies (government) and implementing agencies (local governments)

Output:Restored boundary of the conservation zone by adding and/or replacing missing postsKey leaders in the vicinity who were mobilized to restore the conservation zone boundary were volunteer fishermen who had involved in establishing the conservation zone.

Activity #7: Establishment of the community hatchery

in Ban Chong Fuen8 August 2014

Output:The community hatchery in Ban Chong Fuen is the product of collaborative effort of the locals who saw the need for hatching aquatic animals, using local wisdom.

Activity #8: Linking networks of Gender, Fishermen

organization and Basin networks@ Bangkok, 11 August 2014

Output:The Songkhla Lake Women network agreed to link up with involved agencies, in working on several legal issues.

Activity #9: Capacity building for women and fishermen

13-16 August 2014

Output:Key women leaders delved into legal issues of community fishery and coastal fishery in the vicinityDeveloped linkage between SLB fisherfolks and Association of Community Fishermen of Thailand.

Activity #10: Linking networks of Gender, Fishermen

organization and Basin networks@ Andaman Foundation, 11 August 2014

Output:The Songkhla Lake Women network agreed to link up with involved agencies, in working systematically on several legal issues, under the name of Association of Community Fisherwomen of Southern Thailand
