ASL versus SEE
ASL was developed as a language of its own, it was not based on any previous language.
SEE was based on English.
ASL
Distinct order of words. Very different from English. It can only be roughly translated to
English.
ASL users are typically, but not all, poor in English.
Incorrect order of words but yet so similar in fashion.
They usually had problems with helping verbs.
ASL as First Language
Why?
Most of the KSD students I have came across had problems with English but why were they so similar in the way they wrote English?
Any ideas?
ASL Syntax
Incorporation of ASL syntax and grammatical rules into English as it is written.
It does not work that way because they are completely different languages.
PERSPECTIVE• Stereotype- Almost illiterate?
• Fact- English as a foreign language to them.
