• ItrecognizedthatmostofthelandswestoftheAppalachianMountainsbelongedtothenativepeoplessosettlersandtraderswouldneedpermission toentertheirland.

• Ithasneverbeencancelledandmanyfirstnationslandclaimagreementsrefertoit.

AROYALPROCLAMATION

• TheRoyalProclamationmadethecolonistsfeelthattheBritishgovernmentdidnotregardthemasequals andindirectly ledtotheAmericanRevolution whichresultedintothecreationoftheUnitedStates.

THEQUEBECACT

• In1774 theBritishgovernmentpassedtheQuebecActmakingtheconqueredterritoryintoanewBritishcolony.

• Ingeneral,theActwasgoodfortheFrench butitcausedmajorproblemswiththeAmericans.

• ItrecognizedtheimportanceoftheCatholic Church,keptFrenchlaw forbusinessmattersandmadeQuebeclarger bysettingitsboundariesfarthertothenorth andeast.

• ItcontainedsecretinstructionstothegovernortointroduceEnglishcivillawandsuppresstheCatholicChurch.

THEQUEBECACT

• Manyhabitants weredisappointedwiththeQuebecActbecausetheyexpectedtogetanelectedassembly,similartotheonethattheThirteenColonieshad,buttheydidnot.

• TheQuebecActangeredtheAmerican colonistsbecausetheywerenowabsolutelypreventedfromexpandingintotheOhiovalley.TheyalsosawthelackofanelectedassemblyasanominoussignthattheBritishwouldnotgrantthemmoredemocraticrights.

• TheQuebecActisthoughttohaveleadstraighttotheAmericanRevolution.
