• Leadership is the art or process of influencing people to perform assigned tasks willingly, efficiently and effectively.

• Leadership is the ability to get other people to do something significant that they might not otherwise do. It’s energizing people toward a goal.

LEADERSHIP FOR GOOD OR ILL

• leadership can be used for good or ill. • Example: Hitler seemed to be a leader of the German people, but he set an evil direction. He had great leadership skills, but put them to terrible uses.• Sometimes people can use leadership skills to benefit themselves rather than the people they are supposed to help.

• A leader is a key human resource in any organization. A person who influences a group of people towards the achievement of a goal

• Better leaders develop better employees and the two together develop better products.

• Business leaders serve a range of important functions in their organizations:

• Leaders are responsible for training employees to perform their tasks effectively

• supervising the actual completion of those tasks on a regular basis.

• inspiring employees to get excited about the company and their work.

• protecting the employees from internal and external threats.

• leadership is generally gained through education, and practice and error.

• Going through experience and making mistakes, enable the person to becoming a true and effective leader. • If a person is not able to learn from her

mistakes and admitting her faults, she will never be able to be an effective leader.

• In order for an organization to succeed, there are a variety of people (leaders and managers) who play an important role.

• Some people think that both same when they are actually not.  People generally assume the managers to be the leaders and the leaders to be the managers, but there is a huge difference between the two.

• Leaders make followers and the managers look for subordinates.

• The leader is an innovator (come up with new ideas and ways) and the manager is an administrator (who wants to get the job done).
