Before You Begin
1. Account name and @user names – choose a name for your accountsa. Do your best to choose a name
that best represents your college makerspace
b. Prior to beginning the process, check Facebook Pages, Twitter and Instagram to make sure the account name and @usernamesyou choose are available – do your best to keep them the same across all accounts - or make them as similar as possible

3. Create a password ahead of time. Make sure you don’t lose it!! 4. Website address – know your CCC Makerspace website address5. Email address –know the email address you will be using for all
of the accounts. These will be for administrative purposes and needed for verifications and notifications.
6. Bio/About – have your bio ready to enter

Desktop1. To create a page, begin here:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/create/2. Choose: Local Business or Place3. Select Community in the drop down box4. Populate boxes with
a. name that clearly represents your college makerspaceb. address of your makerspace locationc. phone number

You will see your page. Now you are all set to begin personalizing
1. Page Tips – read through the page tips. They help! On the home page you will see Welcome to Your New Page… Under, you will see: See All Page Tips. Click it and begin to go through the actions by scrolling and clicking on
2. Under your college makerspace name, click Create Page @Username and enter your makerspace @username
Facebook3. Add your images:
a. On the left: click Add a Picture and Upload Photo. Select photo from your computer to upload
b. For the Cover photo on top of the page, click Add a Cover. Select Upload Photo/Video and select the appropriate file to upload
4. Go to and select About – located on the left. Populate with all relevant makerspace information.c. Enter email addressd. Where you see + Enter website, enter your CCC Makerspace website
addresse. Click + Edit story. Place your bio/makerspace description in this space.
Facebook5. Go to and select Community – located towards
the bottom left hand side. If it makes sense, go ahead and invite your friends to “like” the page.
6. Near the top right hand side, select Settings.a. Go through the list on the left-hand side and
begin to set your settings - in prompts area on the right. Note: some may not apply.
7. To “like” other businesses, go to the home page. On the right, find and click: See Pages Feed Posts from Pages you’ve liked as your Page.a. You will see Like Other Pages in a green box.
Click it. In the box under See posts from other Pages here by liking them. Here you can enter business, colleges, CCC Maker, and other Facebook Pages. Enter the name and click Save
You are ready to begin posting on your Facebook Page!
Facebook Pages Manager MobileTo take advantage of Facebook “Live” and other mobilefeatures, download the Pages Manager app on your phone for iPhone and Android. These apps are convenient and easy to use.
InstagramInstagram | https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/ Note: also you can download app for Android or iPhone. Apps are free and easier to navigate.
1. Sign up – tap Sign up (it’s blue, next to Don’t have an account?
2. Populate the fields and remember to use your makerspace name and handle
3. Profile photo – add profile photo
4. Edit Profile – click Edit Profile to add website address, bio, phone number, etc.
Instagram5. Buttons function – located on bottom:
a. Home – where you can see page feed / photos and captions of accounts you follow
b. Search – use search for people, businesses, places or hashtags #
c. Post – middle button (square with a plus sign in it) is the one you tap to upload or take a photo or video, at the top you will see Next. Tap Next after loading the photo and click Next again after you apply a filter to your image, click Next again to post a caption, then post Next to publish your post. Follow the prompts… It’s easy!
d. Heart – here is where you will see notifications: likes, comments, new followers
e. Account – button on the far right is your account
On the “settings” gear you can: • find followers, block
users, change passwords, and more.
• You can also switch the profile to a business profile here. This allows you to connect with the Facebook page and see analytics of your account.
To switch between your personal account and the makerspace account, click on thearrow next to the pagename. There you canadd and account andswitch betweenaccount with ease.
