CLIFTON LITERARY CENTERSECOND YEAR (FALL 2012)INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENTPROGRAMS USED: Sketch-up with Podium Plug-in, Photoshop, Hand Render, Auto CADHaving views throughout the entire space was a key concept used throughout the Clifton Literary Center. This idea was executed with the result of overlapping “L” shape plans. Having an “L” shape plan allowed for an Atrium to occur at the center of the space accentuating the overlapping theme shown throughout the library. Here the user is provided with a unique open floor plan that encourages them to continue to other parts of the building.

CHICO’S FAS (JANUARY 2013 - APRIL 2013, SEPTEMBER 2013 - DECEMBER 2012)PROGRAMS USED DURING INTERNSHIP: Auto CAD, Sketch-up with Podium Plug-in, Photoshop, In-Design During both internships at CHICO’S FAS, I worked on projects for all four brands - Soma, Chico’s, White House Black Market, and Boston Proper. I was able to design 10 stores individually with the assistance of my team members (Demo Plan, Construction Plan, Fixture Plan, Storefront Elevation and Section). I also began to help Render Storefronts for other designers, so that Landlord Proposals and Packages would become easily approved or modified based on their wants and needs.

Both stores shown above (Left - White House Black Market, Right - Chico’s) were based on Store Planning. Given an Irregular shaped posed a challenge. Store planning is like a puzzle that requires math and theory to be solved. All stores were based on an 80:20 ratio (80 - Sales, 20 - Back of house).Design: Autocad (Individually with aid of team members during design meetings)

Storefront Renders based off of another coworkers design were used in Landlord Packages for Landlord Approval. Because Boston Proper is a new brand, in many situations, Landlords needed to see renders in order to understand how the brand would look in their location. Renders: Sketch-up with Podium Plug-in and Photoshop (Individually), Design (Melissa Mccaughy)

FROM LAND TO SEA - HIGH ROLLERS LOBBY DESIGN FOR MONTE CARLO, LAS VEGASTHIRD YEAR (JANUARY 2014)PROGRAMS USED: Sketch-up with Podium Plug-in, Revit, Photoshop, In-design, Illustrator)GROUP ASSIGNMENT - LORA CHILD AND SAM AUDETTInspired by the topographic lines from land to sea, this space eludes to a seamless transition between rough and fluid textures. A minimalist color palette and use of natural materials ignites a calm repose, while pops of turquoise and orange lighting act as wayfinding to lead guests into the spa or lounge.

REVIVE - METROPOLIS OFFICE OF THE FUTURE DESIGN COMPETITIONSECOND YEAR (SUMMER 2013)PROGRAMS USED: Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design)GROUP ASSIGNMENT - LORA CHILDDesigning a public office space, we focused on bringing life back into places that were rundown and overlooked to better the community.

WHO WOULDN’T WANT TO WORK HERE?

WHO WOULDN’T WANT TO WORK HERE?

REIMAGINE A DYING CITYChanging vacant urban spaces into green areas where workers and the community can come together will reduce factors of negativity and provide hope for the growth of the neighborhood.

Cities with more vacant lots have been shown to have an increase of crime, vandalism, and loss of security.

NUMBER OF VACANT LOTS PER CITY:

DETROIT: 100,000

CINCINNATI: 1,300

PHILADELPHIA: 40,000

NYC: 30,000CHICAGO: 15,000

REIMAGINE

REVIVE AN URBAN COMMUNITYAs the Revive system brings people to a struggling area, the local businesses will thrive while new businesses form, creating an economic revival. Once the system has done its job and the community can remain independently successful, Revive is removed and reassembled in a different vacant lot continuing its cycle of recovery.

“Urban public spaces enrich host communities, serving as rarely acknowledged economic assets...” - Public Management Magazine

REVIVE

2013In the average city in the United States, nearly 15% of the area lay vacant.

2020Revive is inserted into the vacant lot bringingworkers into the area.

2025Revive becomes a place for community andworkers to share.

2030Once the area is revitalized, Revive is removed andplaced in another area of need.

NetworkRevive encourages networking and collaboration.
