Dear TABB families,
Welcome to the 2016 TABB Season! We are just weeks away from Opening Day and even closer to upper division practice games. It’s an exciting time of year!
The 8th Annual TABB Hit-A-Thon Fundraiser is scheduled on Saturday, February 27th. It is a fun time that players can come together and compete as a team, while at the same time,
support our league. The Hit-A-Thon is TABB’s major fundraiser of the season. Your participation in this event will ensure that the league is able to continue hosting fun events, purchasing new baseball equipment and maintain and upgrade our facilities.
How it works…
Pledges: Ask family, friends and neighbors to support you with a pledge. This can be in the form of a “Flat Pledge” (example: $20 total), a “Pledge per Hit” (example $2 per hit or $10 per
homerun) and/or a “Challenge Pledge”. See the attached Pledge Form for more details.
Prizes: The TABB Board will recognize and award the top fundraisers in each division, as
well as the top fundraiser overall with some great prizes! The top two teams in each division will be awarded a team pizza party. All winners will be announced during Closing Ceremonies.
Player Challenge: The attached form includes a layout of the point system to be used at the
Hit-A-Thon (which will be scaled by division). We would like each participant to come up with a Challenge number which is a point amount that will challenge their batting skills and bring out their competitiveness. Ask your supporters to sponsor you with an additional
“Challenge Pledge” based on this number. If you are able to meet or exceed your Challenge points, you will be able to collect additional monies for our league.
Event Day: Each team will have an assigned time slot. All players MUST bring their pledge form in order to participate. Manager, coach and parent involvement will be crucial to the
Hit-A-Thon running smoothly—pitching, loading the tee, calling out scores, organizing pledge sheets and recording player scores. Each participant will receive a FREE slushie and treat at the Snack Shack.
Start collecting pledges and swinging those bats!

Keith Newmeyer

DESCRIPTION OF PARENT VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Coach/Assistant Coach: Attend all practices and games. Assist the Manager by following
his/her instructions for working with players.
Team Parent: Attend Team Parent Meeting. Assist Manager with team communications.
Communicate directly with Team Parent Coordinator, Nikky Ely, ely202020@aol.com. Make
sure ALL positions are filled and carried out by parent volunteer.
Picture Parent: Pass our picture information flyer/envelope to each family on team. Send
out reminder emails prior to Picture Day. Each player will need to bring their hat, glove and
completed picture envelope. Distribute pictures when available.
Concession Stand Parent: Get your team’s schedule from Team Mom and sign up your
team parents to work shift(s). Turn in a copy of this schedule to the Snack Shack. Some
parents will choose “buy-out” rather than work a shift, please make note of this on your
schedule. Send out reminder email prior to shift. Contact Veronica Monarrez with any
questions at vrocka32@yahoo.com.
Team Page: Responsible for designing and submitting team page for the yearbook. Player
names and numbers, creative graphics and photos are encouraged. Deadline for page is
March 13, 2016.
Ads & Banners: Encourage your team parents and their friends, relatives, etc. to purchase
or renew ad space/dedication pages in the TABB yearbook and/or banners for the outfield
fences. Contact April Gaffney with any questions at gaffney16@sbcglobal.net.
Culture Keeper: A positive Youth Sports Culture involves not only the coaches and athletes,
but also the parents and fans. Your job is to spread the word about “Positive Comments
Only” to the parents and fans on the sidelines. It is important that you get to know the
parents on your team and become familiar with the 3 principles of Positive Coaching: 1)
Honoring the game, 2) Redefining “Winner”, and 3) Filing the Emotional Tank. There is more
information on this and other ideas at the Positive Coaching website at positivecoach.org.
Field Parents: Help prepare the fields at the beginning and conclusion of each game.
LIVE SCAN POLICY
The safety of our participants shall always be our primary goal!
TABB has adopted a MANDATORY background check policy that will be conducted through the California Department of Justice. Formal background checks, via the "LIVESCAN" System, are administered by Safe and Secure, located in Torrance. The nominal cost for this service is $18.00. ALL managers, coaches, and board members, as well as anyone else having contact with the players must participate in this program. All managers MUST BE cleared by Live Scan no later than their first official practice and all other volunteers MUST BE cleared by Opening Day.
TABB PARKING PLAN
Operating Hours – M-F 4-8pm. Saturday 9am -7:30pm. Sunday 12-7:30pm. During normal operating hours, all access gates to the field shall be open. This will prevent any one alley-way from being overburdened. With four means of ingress and egress, any one gate will not be overused. Gate # 1 (Bottom of Doris Way hill), will be used as an entry point only, being the preferred gate for our player drop-off area between the Mustang and Bronco outfields. This area is near a walkway leading to the Main Snack Shack allowing access to both diamonds. Gate # 2 (Carol Dr. & Doris Way), will be used as an entry or exit point. Gate # 3 (Reese Rd. & Doris Way), will be used as an exit point only. Gate # 4 (Sharynne Lane & Doris Way), which leads to the main parking lot, (See attached plot plan), will be used as an entering and exiting point for parking in our main parking lot. Please note this parking lot is for handicap parking, managers, and snack bar personnel only. Also, children like to play in this alleyway, so PLEASE drive slowly.
UPDATED ST. LAWRENCE PARKING
T-Ball/Pinto Field Parking at St. Lawrence There is NO PARKING at St. Lawrence. Any cars parked on the basketball courts or along the T-ball field will be towed at the owner’s expense. It is also proposed that during the first few weeks of the regular season, TABB will monitor the parking lots on all sides. Should there be any issues relative to parking in any of the lots; the President of TABB shall be the contact person. This Parking plan is to be used during normally scheduled games, playoffs or All-Star Tournaments.
