Why is it important to think about your personal brand?

It keeps you on the front foot• Helps you to manage your own reputation and articulate

your value• You know what makes you unique and can leverage off it • People will remember you• Helps you influence your broader stakeholders • It helps you to proactively manage your profile within your

business and articulate your value • People will come knocking on your door rather than vice

versa• In business, our profile, relationships and networks are so

important – being clear about your personal brand really helps you in terms of career success

What is a personal brand• Personal branding, by definition, is the process by which

we market ourselves to others• Your personal brand is all about who you are and what you

want to be known for• Perception is Reality • Everyone one of us is a brand – whether you like it or not

“In order to be irreplaceable one must

be different”Anonymous, of French origin

Who are your role models?Think about someone that you look up to:

• Why do you look up to them?• What 5 words would you use to describe them?• What is it that they actually do to make you

describe them in this way?

• Ask yourself – what makes me special?• Think about what 3 words would my friends,

family, partner or my Manager use to describe me?

• What words would you want them to use to describe you?

• What is it that you actually do that creates this impression and in turn your personal brand?
