Plugs and sockets
Electrical distribution equipment
Low voltage final distribution
Description
Complete range of plugs and sockets designed for every typeof application in buildings, whether it be for permanent ortemporary supplies
Features and benefits
■ All socket sleeves and plug pins are nickel plated (through a galvanic process)ensuring a maximum protection against corrosion, as well as guaranteeingoptimum electrical and mechanical performances even in very humid anddusty environments
■ The contact carrier is made with superior technical quality engineering polymerwith respect to mechanical, thermal and electrical stresses, ensuring at alltimes high performance, mechanical resistance and electrical insulation.
■ The new FAST connecting system is the most innovating solution of this serieswhich guarantees the connection without stripping the conductor. Anextremely FAST way of making connections using insulation displacementtechniques sheath clamping and sealing are also quickly and easily achieved
■ The mechanical withstand of the cable in the sockets and plugs is ensured bya cable clamp, that is tightened by means of two screws, avoiding dangerousmechanical stress on the terminals
■ The entry cable is guaranteed through:
■■ For the IP 44 versions, PVC membrane, having a diameter that is easilyadapted to the cable
■■ For the IP 67 versions, PVC membrane or cable glands with PG thread and afunnel shaped inlet, ensuring a greater freedom of movement to the cable
■ The range is completed by special devices, such as:
■■ Angled plugs - that allow the reduction of the protruding overall dimensions ofthe plug connectors, considerably limiting mechanical stresses on the cables, thanks to elimination of bends
■■ Phase inverters - designed to solve quickly and safely the problemsassociated with electrical connections of all rotary equipment. It is in factpossible to invert the position of 2 pins with a screwdriver and therefore thedirection of rotation of the machine, without changing the cable connections. Itis sufficient to apply a light pressure to the special housing and to rotate thecontact carrier clockwise or anticlockwise by 180° until the pins are completelyrotated and clicked into place.

Impulse relays
Electrical control equipment
Low voltage control devices
Description
Impulse relays, otherwise known as bi-stable relays are relayshaving two stable operating positions. The coil is energisedfor a short time to change the relay from one state to theother. Energising the coil again changes it back to its originalposition.
The coil is only energised momentarily to change the relay state. This has the advantage that there is not a coil being keptenergised for long periods of time that would be expected with acontactor in a lighting circuit.
Operation of the relay is by a pushbutton or retractive switch. Anynumber of pushbuttons may be connected into the circuit to givea switching facility at various switch positions. Each switch isconnected in parallel and may be looped as required. Thus theneed for two way switches and intermediates is eliminated.Because the switch circuit only carries the coil operating currentthe voltage drop calculations are greatly simplified. Only the maincircuit need be considered.
Application
Simple switching of loads such as lighting controls. Units can be easily linkedtogether to develop complex control sequences.

PowerLogicElectrical distribution equipmentMetering and monitoring for each level ofyour power system
Description
As a leading supplier of electrical distribution and powermonitoring equipment Merlin Gerin has the portfolio ofproducts required for each level on your electrical network.
Comprehensive PowerLogic metering can provide real-timeand event information to help mitigate and diagnose problemseffectively and efficiently. PowerLogic metering can also helpyou improve system reliability, reduce utility costs andincrease equipment utilisation.
With a fully instrumented PowerLogic system it is possible toachieve savings that result in an almost instantaneous returnon investment.
Features and benefits
■ Specific metering for each area of the systemPowerLogic metering and monitoring devices adhere to the highest revenue
class accuracy and the quality standards set by IEEE1159, EN50160 and
IEC61036. For critical circuit monitoring, PowerLogic meters can
simultaneously time stamp and capture events with multiple waveforms while
collecting interval logging for cost allocation. Other PowerLogic meters can
provide the facility to meter and monitor other utilities and perform control
functions.
■ Increased savingsWith a PowerLogic system we encourage you to think below the surface for
additional savings. By installing a PowerLogic system and managing the
resource you can realise a 5% reduction in utility costs – but this is just the tip
of the iceberg.
Looking beyond the utility bill – or below the surface can derive major savings
using a PowerLogic system. Typically, an additional 5% can be saved through
improved equipment utilisation, avoiding unnecessary capital purchases. As
much as 10% further savings can be gained by improving power system
reliability.
■ Government recognised technologyThe PowerLogic range of circuit monitors and meters are recognised by the
Government led Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme and appear on the
Energy Technology List (ETL) for automatic Monitoring and Targeting (aM&T).

PowerServer 750Electrical distribution equipment
Metering and monitoring devices
Description
The PowerLogic PowerServer 750 is a unique industrysolution for managing energy in either commercial orindustrial settings. This new power management servermakes the collection of data easier than ever, as well asproviding easy set-up and installation so you can get right towork managing, controlling and ultimately saving on energycosts.
The Power Server 750 is an industrial rated server designed to withstand the rigorsof connecting to power gear. It can be used as a stand-alone system to providelocal monitoring or used as part of a corporate enterprise solution where data ispushed from the power server to an enterprise monitoring location. This makes itideal for remote monitoring of unattended applications where you need real timedata, but can’t dedicate personnel to be at the site.
The Power Server is pre-loaded with power management software and serves as agateway to an existing Ethernet as well as providing serial communication portsfor connecting field devices directly to the box. You simply connect all of yourcircuit monitors (up to 64) to the power server, then connect the server to yourLAN or WAN Ethernet. Then from your office PC, you simply pull up InternetExplorer, point to the power server IP address and in an instant, you are managingyour power.
Applications
The full web serving capabilities makes this unit ideal as the electricalmanagement and metering element of any building management system.
Features and benefits
■ Compact design
■ Simple configuration
■ Full TCP/P connectivity
■ Embedded web serving capabilities
■ Speeds decision making - PowerServer allows centralised monitoring so youno longer waste precious time walking the facility to collect data
■ Convenience - enables centralised monitoring from any single PC within thefacility or remotely. It makes your job easier and ensures that you always haveaccess to the information you need. Users can also access information fromthe optional touch-screen display
■ Scalable solutions - works with the smallest system to the largest enterprisewide systems
■ Dramatically expands opportunity for energy savings – Not only does thepower server allow customers better access of their energy information, butalso allows you to make more informed decisions regarding all of their utilities(WAGES- water, air, gas, electric and steam)
■ Simplifies monitoring, easy set-up and configuration – The Power Server 750comes with software already installed so you get instant access once it’sconnected. No need to install special software. One device to view, collect, store and alarm on user defined events makes it simple
