There are five different groups of animals with vertebrates.

• Reptiles• Mammals• Fish• Amphibians• Birds

The boa is classified as a reptile because…• It is cold blooded.• It breathes through

lungs.• It is an unusual

reptile because most snakes give birth to eggs. The boa has live births.

Appearance

• Some boa constrictor are 3 meters long. That is about 9 feet long.

• A boa constrictor wouldn’t try to eat anything as big as a person.

What a boa constrictor eats and how much it weighs.

• A boa eats birds, monkeys, wild pigs, bats, and other small animals. It is a reptile and has fangs to eat meat.

• The boa can be about 100 lbs. Most boas are between 6 – 14 feet long. The longest one found was 18 feet long.

How the boa finds food and what it looks like.

• Boas kill by constricting (squeezing) the prey until it can no longer breathe.

• Their bodies can be tan, green, red, or yellow.

How they stay safe and where they live.• Boas stays safe from

predators by hiding and camouflaging.

• Boas live in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.

What the life span of a boa?

• The boa constictor lives up to 20, 30, or up to 40 years old.

What a boa sounds like and what layer it lives in.

• A boa has the same sound like any other snake.

• A boa lives in the under story in the rainforest.
