HOLLYWOOD

The Best Western Plus, Hollywood Hills Hotel was built in 1927, expanded

in 1970, and has incorporated many improvements over its 80 plus years.

But by 2010 it was time for another makeover. Upgrades throughout

the hotel make the Best Western Plus, Hollywood Hills Hotel a star-

studded home-away-from-home.

The hotel has been run by the Adler family since 1949, attracting the

famous and the hip, as well as tourists and locals. Writer Aldous Huxley

slept here and the first floor coffee shop was, and still is, the “go to”

Hollywood diner for all hours. This remodel celebrates the vitality of

Hollywood and the hotel’s eclectic clientele.

Work included a number of strategic components from mundane main-

tenance and paving, to a dramatic Klieg light mural and coordinated

awnings. Exterior painting includes a striped beach towel inspired

pattern for the upgraded pool court yard. A new canopy along with

reconfigured parking, landscaping, lighting and signage reorients the

main entry away from a busy thoroughfare to a tree lined parking court

and guest drop off area. Revamped parking areas are screened from

residential neighbors with abundant landscaping. Streetscape improve-

ments to benefit both visitors and the community included replacing

450 feet of cracked and lif ted sidewalk, planting shade street trees,

removing abandoned utility poles, and adding bike racks. Interior work

comprises new offices with lobby and reception spaces featuring the

owner’s Hollywood photo memorabilia.
