Mindframes that lead to optimum conditions

I am an evaluator I enjoy challenge

I am a change agent I develop positive relationships

I talk about learning not about teaching I inform all about the language of learning

I see assessment as feedback to me I see learning as hard work

I engage in dialogue not monologue

2014, Visible Learning Plus

Visible Learning1) I am actively engaged in and passionate about teaching and learning2) I provide students with multiple opportunities for learning based on surface and deep thinking3) I know the learning intentions and success criteria of my lessons and I share these with students4) I am open to learning and actively learn myself5) I have a warm and caring classroom climate where errors are welcome6) I seek regular feedback from my students7) My students are actively involved in knowing about their learning (assessment-capable)8) I can identify progression in learning across multiple curriculum levels in my student work9) I have a range of teaching strategies in my day-to-day teaching repertoire10) I use evidence of learning to plan learning steps with students

Hattie (2009), Visible Learning For Teachers - Maximising Impact.Know Thy Impact - Teaching, Learning, Leading

The nature of teachingWe perceive our role as implementing curriculum, planning and delivering lessons, meeting the needs of students, etc.

We tend to say that students are successful because they try hard and put in effort.

What we don't tend to say is we have an impact on them and their learning!

When we are in classrooms, our fundamental role is to evaluate our impact.

Know Thy Impact - Teaching, Learning, LeadingJust shut up and listen, expert tells teachers

So ask the students!

Seek honest and confidential feedback.

Tell them why you are doing it!

Affirmation...

Topic: Creative Commons and copyright

On what can we improve…

“Many people do not reference their images properly or just get themfrom google”

● Use Forms and Docs to instantly collect and analyse student feedback.

● pre, during and post lesson.

● Create and send via a url shortener.

Give the teacher 2 stars 1 wish

Were the intentions clear?

Were you successful? How?

Evaluations

Evaluations

Did students find it useful? Did they see the purpose?

The bad days...have we been here?

The good days!

Be brave and courageous.

Seek from your students...

then be the best teacher you can be!

Are you the best teacher you can be?
