ToIndexanExistingRecordAlwaysbeginbyeditingandproofreadingthebibliographicsectionofanexistingrecord.Inthe“ToBeIndexed”Dashboard,scrolltofindtherecordtobeindexed,locatethe“Actions”column,clickonthedownarrownextto“Action,”andselectthe“ViewBibliography”option.
Thiswilltakeyoutothebibliographicsectionoftherecordwhereyoucanaddandeditinformationasneededbyclickingthe“Edit”iconinthesidebarbuttonpanelontheupperright(orusingtheCTRL+Eshortcut).Remembertoaddorconfirmthedocumentlanguageandtofillinand/oreditallrequiredfields,suchasArticleTitle,Author(s),Affiliation,etc.(Forinformationoncompletingandeditingbibliographicfields,seepage7.)
Aftercompletingyourreviewofthebibliographicsectionoftherecord,clickthe“Save”iconontheright-sidefloatingmenu,“SaveChanges”buttonatthebottomoftheform,orCtrl+Stosavechangestothebibliographicform.

Next,beginindexingbyclickingononeofthe“AddIndexingInformation”buttons(orCTRL+I).(Someversionsmayincludea“Save&Begin”buttonthatcombinesthisstepwiththestepabove.)
Thiswilltakeyoutothe“IndexingDetails”pagewhereyoucanbeginindexingbyclickingonthe“+AddTemplate”button.
Selecttherelevanttemplatesforindexingintheavailabletemplatespop-upmenu.(Notethatlateryoucanaddanddeletetemplatesfromwithintheindexingform.)

Thiswillbringuptheselectedtemplatestobefilledwithyourindexing.
*(AllfieldsandfacetsareexplainedinthismanualandarehyperlinkedinthebibliographicandindexingsectionsoftheMLAIBProductionPlatformforeasyaccess.Ifyoudonotknowhoworifyoushouldfilloutaspecificfieldorfacet,simplyclickonthehyperlinkedfieldorfacetnameandyouwillbetakentodetailedinstructionsinthemanual.)Tosaveyourindexing,clickononeofthe“Save”buttonsorusethekeyboardshortcutCTRL+S.(Notethatthesystemdoesnotsaveyourworkautomatically.)

Click“Yes”andapop-upwillappear,“ScenariosforAdditionalTemplates,”allowingyoutochoosetheauthor(s)oranonymouswork(s)forwhichadditionaltemplatesareneeded.Makeyourselectionsandclick“OK.”
Thiswillbringyoubacktotheindexingformwhereyoucanreviewtheadditionaltemplateandaddinformationasneeded(suchasGENREinliteraturetemplates).
Clicking“Save”againwillbringyoutothevalidationscreenwhereyoucanreviewyourindexing.Toreviewthevalidationlog,clickontheslide-outarrowtotheleftofyourindexing.

Ifyouarehappywithyourindexing,clickthe“SubmitforEditorialReview”button.(Notethatoncesubmittedforeditorialreview,youwillnolongerbeabletoeditthisrecord.)

Toaddanewissue,click“CreateTrackingRecord.”
Apop-upwillappearwhereyoucanenterpublicationdetails(seepage18).Under“Location,”selectthebuttonfor“FieldWork,”thenclick“Create.”Donotselecta“Format”inthispop-upmenu.
Locatethecreatedissue(usuallyatthetop;orusethecolumnsortarrows),clickonthedownarrownexttothe“Action”button,andchoose“CreateJournalArticle.”

Fillinallrelevant/requiredbibliographicfields(seesection3,“BasicBibliographicInformation,”onpage7)andclick“Save&Begin”tobeginindexing.
