3. In Akron General Hospital is Gail Cox who has been seriously ill for the last month. I will be visiting with her tomorrow.

We will be studying our Community needs and how God has prepared us to meet those needs. Come and join us.

Why Are You So Afraid?

• “Yes Mommy, and He told me to come and get you!”

The Words of Our Text from Mark

“Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Then, says Mark’s

Gospel, they were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

I have been fascinated by this Story!1. Jesus’ disciples, many of whom were

fishermen, were terrified by this storm.2. Jesus calmed the storm and that really

sent shock waves through them.

Why Are You So Afraid?1. Fear is at the heart of most of the

problems we human beings have.

A. The opposite of faith is NOT doubt;

B. The opposite of faith is _________

2. At the heart of every negative emotion that afflicts us is FEAR!

I scream the same…Jesus is saying to us, “Why are you so afraid?

Do you still have no faith?”

Faith – the Antidote to Fear

Not Just Faith in Anybody or Anything1. The only kind of faith that really matters is

faith in Jesus Christ.A. “Who is this that even the wind and the

waves obey Him?” the disciples asked.B. This is Jesus is different alright – He’s God!C. There is no problem, no difficulty, and no

issue that He can’t handle!
