INTRODUCTION

Airbnb is pleased to announce the opening of three new offices in Sao Paolo, Singapore, and London.

As innovators in the design world, Airbnb is always striving to break new ground and drive the design conversation. These three new projects are perfect examples of this commitment. Each office aptly captures the distinctness of its home city; leveraging the richness of local culture and the artistry of local makers while maintaining Airbnb’s core philosophy of ‘belonging anywhere’.

SINGAPORE

Design collaboration with FARM

Formerly a Facebook office, we needed to transform this space and create distinctly Airbnb home for the Singapore office.

This project was carried out in collaboration with FARM; a local multi-disciplinary design practice with strong roots in the Singapore design community.

FARM was chosen for its alignment to Airbnb’s core values; the unification of makers and local culture. This is concept sought out in every Airbnb project.

SAO PAULO

Design collaboration with MM18

The goal of this space was to build the Sao Paulo team a mature, robust, and beautiful office – a step up from the start-up-style offices they had previously worked in.

We chose to work with Sao Paulo-based design firm MM18, for their comprehensive knowledge of Brazilian culture and design.

Through MM18, we were able to bring in local fabricators; furniture designers; textile designers and industrial designers.

Creative input from these local artisans meant the new office could truly belong to the culture of Brazil and Sao Paolo. Airbnb’s Sao Paolo office now actively participates in the community of makers in Vila Madelena.

LONDONDesign collaboration with Threefold

Architects

We were particularly excited to build an office in London; a city that already has a strong design community.

Airbnb environments team worked to find an architecture firm whose work spoke to the local design conversation; central to Airbnb’s ethos.

Inspired by the range of their portfolio and their work with London arts organizations, we selected local design firm Threefold to work
