A report fromJuly 2010

The nationwide adiZone progamme has been made possible by £3 million of funding from the Department for Education’s co-location fund, which has attracted over £3 million match-funding from local authority departments, schools and colleges, PCTs, the Police, community trustsand many other partners across England.

In addition to this, adidas UK funded a £1 million adiZone pilot project in 2008 in the host Olympic boroughs, with events supported by the New Zealand All Blacks, Great Britain wheelchair basketball team and 400m Olympic gold medallist Christine Ohuruogu.

40 adiZones = cost of 1 public swimming pool!

At the Great Yarmouth adiZone launch, Olympic medalist and adidas-sponsored athlete Louis Smith inspired local school children and residents with a demonstration of his gymnastic dexterity. Louis won a bronze medal on the pommel horse at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
