52013 Fees Canada Refund Policy CanadaThe Registration Fee is non-refundable at all times except in thecase where the student visa has been rejected. Should a studentvisa be rejected from a Canadian Embassy, the rejection lettershould be submitted in order to have the registration fee refunded.All deposits will also be refunded upon submission of the offi cialrejection notification from the Canadian Embassy.
To apply for a tuition refund, the student or agent must submit a
written notice of withdrawal.There are no refunds for classes missed due to holiday, graduation,orientation, and / or other situations beyond the schools control.
In this policy, the word program refers to the full cycle of studiesto which the student registered. All refunds apply based on theassumption that the full payment has been received.
Effective before the start date1.
If a student cancels 30 days or more before the start1.aof the program, the school will retain 25% of thefees due under the contract and refund 75% of thefees to the student.
If a student cancels less than 30 days before the1.b
start of the program, the school will retain 40% ofthe fees due under the contract and refund 60% ofthe fees to the student.
Effective after the start date2.
If a student cancels (or is dismissed) within 52.acalendar days of the start date of the program, theschool will return 50% of all unused tuition fees paidunder the contract.
No refund will be paid if a student cancels (or is2.bdismissed) when more than 5 days of the programhave been completed.
Refunds on postponed starting dates are based2.c
on the original start dates (applies also to studentstransferring from one GV school to another).
Homestay Refund Policy
If written cancellation notice is given 12 weeks or more3.before beginning of homestay, all money will be refundedincluding Homestay Placement Fee.
If written cancellation notice is given less than 12 weeks4.before beginning of homestay, all money will be refundedexcept for the Homestay Placement Fee.
For refund requests after commencement of Homestay:5.
The student should inform the GV Homestay5.aOffi ce in writing three weeks before the end of thehomestay period if he/she decides to terminate theagreed homestay period. If the notification periodis less than 3 weeks, then in addition to the non-refundable notification period, a $150 cancellationfee will apply.
If the host family has failed to meet the Homestay5.bconditions, the student will be moved to anotherHomestay, and there will be no refund given for theperiod of homestay already used.

Refund, Transfer and Admissions Policies United StatesGeneral Refund Policy
In this policy, the word program refers to the full cycle.of studies to which the student registered. Extensions ofstudies will be treated separately.
To be considered for a refund, a student or agent must2.submit a completed Cancellation Form or notify the
school in writing of the cancellation by some othermeans.
There is an Accommodation & Study Program3.Cancellation/Reduction/Change fee. If the studentcame through an agency, GV Hawaii will check withthe students agency for any other fees that they mayassess. Additional fees may apply from outside vendoraccommodations other than homestay. This fee does notapply to Accommodation or Study Program extensions.
For the Teenage Activity Program and other specialized4.Activity Programs [e.g. Study tours, English Plus, etc.],there are no refunds for homestays, activities, airporttransfers, or excursions, but only for tuition that is offered
as per the normal Withdrawal/Cancellation policy [seebelow].
There are no refunds or make-up classes for classes5.missed due to holidays, graduation, orientation, naturaldisasters and/or other situations beyond the schoolscontrol.
If Global Village Hawaii cancels a program that a student6.registered for, and proficiently placed into, Global VillageHawaii will refund all monies paid by the student. If youcame through an agency, GV Hawaii will check with youragency and let you know of any other fees that they mayassess.
If a student is dismissed from school for violating school7.policies, the GV Hawaii cancellation policy will apply fromthe students last date of attendance.
It is understood that students who register through travel8.agents have signed contracts with these agents thatmay include cancellation penalties, no-refund policies,or home country-refunds only conditions. In all casesregarding agent-sent students, GV Hawaii will confirm theconditions of agent-student contracts with travel agentsbefore issuing any refunds.
Textbook fees will not be refunded once the books have9.been issued to the student. If a student has the same
edition of textbook(s) from previous studies, the studentmay request a refund for the new textbook(s). The requestmust be made within the first week of studies. No refundswill be given beyond this period.
Refunds are issued within 30 days after the date of receipt10.of the written notice of cancellation. If the student camethrough an agency, they may have other restrictions orfees. GV Hawaii will contact the students agency and letthe student know of any other conditions.
Cancellation/Withdrawal of Enrollment before the11.students start program date or never attended class (noshow):
GV Hawaii will refund all monies paid less the1.aregistration fee, accommodation placement fees,any actual housing costs incurred by GV Hawaii,express mail fees, SEVIS related fees and any
accommodation deposits. However, if a studentcancels within 72 hours of making the registration,GV Hawaii will refund ALL monies paid less non-refundable accommodation deposits, any actualhousing costs incurred by GV Hawaii, express mailfees and SEVIS related fees, if applicable.
Students Denied Visa/Entry: A student denied1.ba student visa or entry into the United Stateswill be given a full refund of all monies paid lessnonrefundable accommodation deposits, anyactual housing costs incurred by GV Hawaii, expressmail fees and SEVIS related fees, if applicable. Amaximum of $500 of non-housing related fees maybe charged.
Cancellation/ Withdrawal of Enrollment after the students12.start program date:
For all cancellations, students must notify GV Hawaiiby completing a Cancellation Form or notifying theschool in writing of the cancellation by some othermeans. If a student does not notify the school that he/she is withdrawing, GV Hawaii will check attendancerecords and if the student has been absent for morethan 10 consecutive class sessions, the student will bedismissed from school and the students I-20 Form willbe terminated. GV Hawaii will calculate the studentsrefund (if applicable) based on the last day of attendance.
Any money to be refunded will be mailed to studentshome address or to their travel agent. In all casesan Accommodation & Study Program Cancellation/Reduction/Change Fee will be applied.
The following calculation is made for tuition andspecia ize programs:
No refunds will be given for the first 4 weeks of the2.astudents study program.
Students who cancel/withdraw after the first2.4 weeks but before or at the midpoint of thestudents study program, GV Hawaii may retaina prorated amount of tuition. For students who
withdraw after the mid-point, GV Hawaii may retainall of the charges for the students study program.
Prorated refunds will be calculated on a weekly2.cbasis. When determining the number of weeks, GVHawaii defines a partial week as if a whole weekwere completed, provided the student was presentat least one day during the scheduled week.
Students who cancel/withdraw after completing2.dthe initial study program, but before or at themidpoint of any subsequent study program, GVHawaii may retain a prorated amount of tuition upto the midpoint. For students who cancel/withdrawafter the midpoint of any subsequent study
program, GV Hawaii may retain all of the tuition forthat study program.
Refunds due to students may not be applied2.etoward future tuition fees.

Accommodation Refund Policies
13.
Cancellation/Withdrawal before beginning of homestay:
If written cancellation notice is given 12 weeks13.aor more before the beginning of homestay, allmoney will be refunded including the Homestay
Placement Fee.If written cancellation notice is given less than13.b12 weeks before beginning of the homestay, allmoney will be refunded except for the HomestayPlacement Fee.
Cancellation/Withdrawal after beginning of homestay:
The student should inform the Global Village13.cHawaii Homestay Offi ce in writing three weeksbefore the end of the homestay period if he/shedecides to terminate the agreed homestay period.If the notification period is less than 3 weeks, thenin addition to the non-refundable notificationperiod, an Accommodation Cancellation/Reduction fee will apply.
If the host family has failed to meet homestay13.dconditions, then the AccommodationsCoordinator must be notified and given a chanceto mediate and/or correct the problem(s).Only after the Accommodations Coordinatorsintervention, and if the problem(s) persist, thestudent will be moved to another homestay andthere will be no refund given for the period ofhomestay already used. Only if no replacementhomestay can be found will an accommodationrefund be issued.
GVH Resi ences:14.There are no refunds for apartment and dormitory securitydeposits if the student cancels their accommodation bookingsbefore arrival. There are also no refunds for the Kaimuki and
apiolani residences once the room is confirmed for the student.
Apartments:15.
If written cancellation notice is given 30 days15.aor more before the beginning of apartmentcheck-in, all money will be refunded except fora $25 cancellation fee and the AccommodationPlacement Fee.
If written cancellation notice is given less than15.b30 days before beginning of apartment check-in,there is no refund of any rent, apartment deposits,Accommodation Placement Fee and a $25cancellation fee will apply.
Transfer Policy
Transferring to GV Hawaii: A bonafide non immigrant16.student enrolled as a full-time F-1 student may transfer toGV Hawaii. All GV Hawaii admissions procedures must becompleted. In addition, transfer applicants must:

Have current school complete Global Village16.bHawaiis International Student Transfer form.
Submit a copy of current I-20 form (full-time16.cstudents), passport, and all applicable GlobalVillage Hawaiis admission documents.

Thestudent may also need to have GV Hawaii complete formsfrom the new school (talk to the new school to see if anyapplicable forms are needed).
Admissions Policy
Global Village Hawaii provides first-class English languageinstruction to students 16 years and older who wish toenter American universities or study English for personal orprofessional reasons. Global Village Hawaii also offers privateessons to students of all ages, while the Teen Activity Program
is offered to students of the ages 12 to 17 years old. Globalillage Hawaii welcomes all nationalities and there are no
academic requirements for most courses (contact the school forspecific course requirements). Students must comply with theDepartment of Homeland Security and U.S. Department of Stateregulations and meet the required skill level necessary for entryinto a particular course or level. Students are evaluated withplacement tests and/or academic counseling on the students firstday of school to determine the appropriate course and level.
Admissions Process for Non-Student Visa [F-1] students:For courses with 21 lessons (or less) per week (less than 18 hoursper week)
Submit a completed Global Village Hawaii Registration.Form online or by email, fax, mail, or in person.
An Admissions Deposit of USD $500 is required to process2.the students registration. Also, any accommodationdeposits must be paid at this time to secure the studentsroom. Contact the school for availability.
Global Village Hawaii will send the student an invoice of3.the remaining balance and a letter of acceptance by emailor fax to confirm the registration.
Remaining balance of the students tuition,4.accommodation and other fees must be paid by or on thefirst day of the students studies. Payment may be madeby credit card, wire transfer, money order, or bank draft.Additional bank charges may also apply.

a. A photocopy of the students valid passportb. Financial statement from the students bank or thestudent sponsors bank verifying funds of at least USD$2,360 for each month of study. For example, if thestudent will be studying for 6 months, the financialstatement will need to show at least USD $14,160.

After the student receives the I-20 Form from Global4.Village Hawaii, the student will need to pay the SEVIS fee(I-901) online at: www.fmjfee.com and print out the SEVISfee payment receipt for the Student Visa interview. Moreinformation about the I-901 fee can be found at http://www.ice.gov/sevis/i901/index.htm.
Then, make an appointment at the nearest U.S. Embassy in5.the students home country for a Student Visa interview. Thestudent should bring their I-20 Form, SEVIS I-901 receipt andother documents required by the U.S. Embassy.
Global Village Hawaii will also send an invoice of the.remaining balance and a letter of acceptance by email or faxconfirming the registration. The original copy may be mailedupon request.
The remaining balance of the students tuition,7.accommodation and other fees must be paid by or on thefirst day of the students studies. Payment may be madeby credit card, wire transfer, money order, or bank draft.Additional bank charges may also apply. Student visas maytake two months or more to process.
Leave of Absence PolicyGlobal Village Hawaii students must request a leave of absencein writing (e.g. complete the Leave of Absence Request Form)at least a week prior to the start date of the leave of absence(LOA), unless unforeseen circumstances prevent the studentfrom doing so. If the student does not report back to school atthe end of the LOA, and misses 10 consecutive class sessions, he/she will be dismissed from school and the students I-20 Form willbe terminated based on the last day of attendance. The GlobalVillage Hawaii Cancellation Policy will be applied based on thestudents last day of attendance. Students requesting a LOAnormally do not receive a refund for the period of the leave.
Global Village Hawaii approves written requests for Leave ofAbsence (LOA) of up to 28 calendar days for students who are ingood standing and have studied 5 consecutive full terms. A fullterm is defined as the student starting from the first day of thestudy term and finishing on the last day of the study term. Partialterm completion does not accrue time toward the 5 consecutivefull terms. Accrued LOA must be used within a year being earned.
Emergency leave of absences may be granted due to:
Medical Leave:1. Student must provide a doctors note uponreturn from their leave of absence, otherwise the days missedfrom school will be marked as absent and the attendancepolicy applies.
Family Emergency:. This pertains to death of a familymember; severely ill or hospitalized family member; or other
family events [i.e. getting married] etc. Special exceptions canbe made to non-family members depending on the type ofrelationship with the student.
Students will need to see the Assistant Director/Student ServicesManager for approval of their requested leave of absence. Anyapproved leave of absences may consist of multiple leaves ofabsences provided the total leave does not exceed 90 calendardays in a 12 month period or 50% of the students programlength, whichever is shorter. The length of the leave of absencemay be extended provided all the conditions above are met. Toextend, a written request must be given to the Assistant Director/Student Services Manager for approval prior to the end of thecurrent LOA.
GV General Conditions14Prices: All registrations for studies in 2014 received prior toNovember 1, 2013, will be charged the 2013 rate for tuition. Thispolicy does not apply to accommodations.
Application Process: A letter of acceptance will be issued uponreceipt of the completed registration form and a payment. Pleasecheck with the school on payment policy. The original copy maybe mailed, faxed, or emailed upon request. The school is not
responsible for any extra courier charges.nors: Students under the age of 18 (under 19 in Victoria +
Vancouver) must have their application co-signed by a parentor legal guardian. Underage students must submit underageagreements signed by their parents. Custodianship may also needto be arranged.
Payment: Students may be required to pre-pay tuition fees whenapplying for student visas. Check with school and local consulateor embassy on payment methods and any other requirements.Payment may be made by credit card, wire transfer, money order,or bank draft. Additional bank charges may also apply.
Refunds: Check fee sheets and our website for individual schoolpolicies. To be considered for a refund a student must submit a
written notice of withdrawal to the school. The date of receipt ofthe written notice determines which cancellation charges will beapplied. Refunds will be issued within 30 days of receipt of thenotice.
Changes and availability: Start dates, programs and coursecontent may change at any time and without prior notice. Thefees, dates and conditions listed in this brochure are subject tochange at any time and without prior notice. All courses areavailable based on enrollment.
