KID’S KITCAR ASSOCIATIONPROYECTO IBERIA

Objective• To motivate the learning of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and

Maths (STEAM) in students of all ages. What is the way forward• By racing their own cars, children will learn to design and manufacture to

their own objectives, reflecting on their experiences from previous races. What abilities will the children obtain• The competition requires the children to work in a team and learn to

organise their activities, from initial design, planning, through tomanufacture and testing in english.

• The activites that they will fulfil are based on their own initiative, withmentors and ambassadors only overseeing their activities and guidingtheir actions.

• The timescale involved is aimed at promoting reflective learning with thechildren making their own decisions, testing the results and learning fromthe elements that they identify to need improvement.

3

• Organisations with the same objectives, lookingto promote interest in the Science, Technology,Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM) subject.

• Local technical partners, such as Siemenssupplying Solid Edge.

• International organisation with experience inthese events, such as Greenpower, EngineeringSocieties, etc.

• Organisation of races for different age groups.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

WHERE ARE WE NOW?• The Kid’s Kitcar Association was launched in October 2016.• We are currently developing two kid’s cars with 4 groups of children and

the participation of their families.• We are presenting these activities to schools and colleges.• We presented our activities at the Maker Fair in Bilbao (2016), promoting

the activities of the kid’s kitcar team, so parents and teachers understoodthat Children from 9 years of age CAN manufacture and race their owncars.
