Smaller ends (3/4”) mount to the heads where original air filter mounted.

The 1” ends will mount to the backing plate of the air cleaner. I used 1/8” aluminum to cut out spacers for the slotted mounting areas on the S&S backing plate. The backing plate has recessed mounting slots so I cut one piece the size that would fit tight into the recessed slot and then cut another that would slide through the slot and glued the two pieces together. This allowed the mounting brackets to fit flush to the back side of the filter housing.

This is kind of what the insert that you will make for the mounting areas for the backing plate.

Once you get a backing plate to work with you will understand better what I am trying to describe.

This is a drawing of the backing platewhere you will have to make an adapter to connect

the carb to the air cleaner. Go to a local mufflershop and get a piece of 2 ¼” pipe and weld to the adapter the tap mounting holes to ¼ x 28 to

secure it all to the backing plate.I use 1/8” steel to make the adapter

plate.

The rubber boot I ordered fromKuryukan p/n 400598. You will have to cut the double lip end off with a razor blade and use

A clamp to secure it to the Backing plate adapter.
