Sir/Ma’am, per your request we conducted an Investigation in regards to a
Recreational Vehicle that you rented with the information you provided and below are
our findings.
Background: You rented a Recreational Vehicle from 123 RV Rental, located at 13668
Red Hill Ave. # A, Tustin, CA and picked up the vehicle from Bakers Ranch RV Storage
located at 25690 Baffin Bay, Lake Forest CA. The vehicle is a 2007 Forest River
Georgetown bearing California License Plate Number 5YYM929 and is said to be
registered to Michelle Starkey the owner of 123 RV Rentals.
Further information on the Investigator and the findings of this report are based on
fourteen years of experience during which time he worked as a Police Officer and
Detective investigating in excess of one hundred vehicle collisions where damage to a
vehicle occurred and was evaluated and documented in an official report. Additional
experience was obtained working as a Private Investigator for Insurance Companies
where vehicle collisions were investigated through the taking of statements, photographs,
diagrams, and preparing reports in accordance with state and federal laws.
Investigation: On Thursday April 14th
, 2011 at approximately 10 AM we visited the
aforementioned address of Bakers Ranch RV Storage and located the aforementioned
vehicle midway down an aisle that was marked “N”. The vehicle was unattended and
appeared to be in normal operating condition. All of the tires were in normal condition
and no signs of any collision or major damage were readily visible.
Upon closer inspection of the vehicle the following items were observed:
1. On the right hand side of the vehicle a bar that supports an extendable awning was
marked with a light green or yellow color that appeared to be transferred from the
vehicle rubbing against a tree or some sort of bush. This support bar did not show
any signs of structural damage or any other signs of inoperability.
The light green and yellow markings did not easily rub off with the hand and from
the Investigators experience had remained on this bar for a minimum of thirty
days prior to this inspection.

2. Also on the right hand side of the vehicle near the rear tire well the same light
green to yellow color transfer was observed around the metal molding of the tire
well. In addition to the transfer the thin metal was slightly misshaped and lightly
dented. The dirt that was consistent throughout the vehicle and present on this
area indicates that the damage in this area is older than two weeks from the date
of the inspection.

3. Continuing on the right side of the vehicle an area just before the wheel well is an
access panel that is covered with a decorative sticker that ran the entire length of
the vehicle. This sticker had a tension streak through it also indicating that the
vehicle had rubbed up against a tree or bush consistent and in line with the other
damage mentioned in items 1 and 2. The age of this damage could not be
determined however it is unlikely it occurred at any other time than the previously
mentioned damage.

4. Still on the right hand side of the vehicle just above the largest and most rear
access panel the most damage was observed. This damage consisted of a streak
about two feet long that had caused a deep groove in the point with several lines
in a zigzag fashion. This damage had started to rust as the metal had been
previously exposed and had been touched up with paint by an average person and
not consistent with any professional body work. This damage had occurred and
the corresponding paint applied at a minimum of six months prior to the
inspection of this vehicle.
The aforementioned streak lead to a piece of factory installed rubber molding that
ran from the top to the bottom of the vehicle. This piece of rubber molding had
sustained damage from the same tree or bush that caused the deep grooves in
addition to previous damage that pitted and grooved the rubber. It is unlikely that
this damage occurred at any point after the damage with the pattern from the tree
or bush and was most likely caused by something denser than wood.

Conclusion: In the Investigators educated and experienced opinion the damage observed
on the vehicle was caused by the forward motion of the vehicle close to a tree with heavy
foliage or a tall bush. With the exception of the rubber molding the damage would be
considered minor by any standard and would unlikely require body work rather a
thorough cleaning to remove the dirt and color transfer from the tree that makes up a
large percentage of the so called damage.
The damage on item four had been previously addressed by someone and painted in a
manner to avert any further rust or corrosion.
