OverviewOverview

Developed and maintained by McTransOriginally founded by the FHWA in 1986 as the Center for Microcomputers in Transportation (Mc Trans)Now a full-service software support center, associated with the University of Florida

HCS 2010 ™ (Release 6.3)HCS 2010 ™ (Release 6.3) implements the procedures defined in the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) 2010 published by the Transportation Research Board (TRB).This release includes the new Streets module that combines the Signalized Intersections with the Urban Streets Segments, Facilities and Multimodal procedures.

StrengthsStrengths

HCS 2010 ™ also implements the HCM 2010 roundabout analysis procedureCommonly used and accepted nationwideSimple one-page output report

LimitationsLimitations

Single- and double-lane roundabouts only

Only what’s included in the HCMSingle intersection analysis only

No network modeling, growth factors or scenario analyses

Potential PitfallsPotential Pitfalls

Some lane configurations included in the HCM can’t be modeled in HCS 2010

Exclusive left and a shared left/through/right

Need to be careful when opening, closing and saving files

Double-check the input values and critical and follow-up headway values
