designed for easy use andprovides the insertion forceand a variety of productiondata to be collected at an open interface. With a maximuminsertion rate of 4.5 cycles per

second we provide a produc-tion capacity which is difficultto match in the market place. The programmable insertion of two 0.63 mm pins per cycle doubles the output.

A loose-piece pin or tab isplaced in the product specificinsertion finger of the arborpress, the PCB is placed onthe support anvil and the pinor tab is manually pressedinto the board.

P50 Manual BenchInsertion Machine

The P50 Insertion machine is a manual operated benchmachine for low volume production, repair work andsample production. It uses a trader slide to position the PCB under thepneumatic insertion head. A regular PCB is used as master to position the indexing pin above the insertion hole. When activating the two hand start, the indexing pinextracts. If a hole is detected, the terminal is inserted intothe board in production.

Flexible and efficient termina-tion of single and double wireapplications, self-adjustmentof the feeder and optimumquality of wire termination arethe main features of our newapplicator – the System IIIApplicator. All crimp-related data, whichare specific for the applicatorand the terminal to becrimped, are contained in aniButton™, being part of theapplicator. The main feature of the System III concept is a separate electrical feeder – which is communicating withthe applicator iButton on onehand and the terminator andleadmaker on the other hand – and an automaticalinteraction between applicator and terminator. Once the applicator ismounted onto the press andas soon as the electrical

feeder (being permanentlyconnected to the terminator)is locked onto the applicator, the applicator iButton data areread out and transmitted tothe terminator via the feeder.

Then the terminator automatic-ally adjusts its crimp heightand the feeder its feeding parameters – according to theterminal wire combination tobe crimped.

Applicator for Large Wire Sizes

A pneumatically driven feedwhich is efficient and precisely adjustable, as well as a specially robust crimping unit,

produce reliable connectionswhich are extremely stableover the long term.

For processing of large contacts, eg. for battery terminals, we offer heavy andsolidly built tools, which areextremely precise in repetitivework for end-feed and side-feed contacts with large crosssections.

The BT 722 Bench Top Pressis used for the manual crimp-ing of contacts. The BT 722 Press is operated from a touch screen. The new TopTouch user inter-face allows jobs to be set-upquickly and easily. Even during production set-up, themachine operator is promptedto conduct quality measure-ments. Following the input ofthe calculated values in theuser interface, the crimp heightis automatically corrected.

BT 722 Bench Top Press

This prevents errors arisingfrom the manual setting of thecrimp height. Only one crimp is needed forreferencing the integrated crimp force monitoring. Thisreduces waste material consumption and minimizesset-up time. The quality valuesmeasured during productionare saved and can thereforealways be called up later. This ensures traceable qualityat all times.

The programmable DigiStripper(option) is an ideal accessoryto the BT 722 Bench TopPress. This can be set-upwithout any mechanicaladjustment. Thanks to thefunctions zero cut and pullback, as well as the pre-programmable cutting depth, the perfect stripping isensured.

In order to help you to ensurethat our applicators are placedcorrectly in the presses werecommend this press gauge. It is possible to have a misalignment between thecenter of the applicator andthe terminator due to the waythey mount in the terminator. If this happens, a side load isapplied to the applicator

Gauge for Presses

which can lead to pre-maturewear and/or quality problemswith the crimped terminals. The use of the gauge is simple: You install the pressgauge into the press like anapplicator. Then you unlockthe gauge head, on which ismounted a gauge ring. A spring in the gauge is nowpressing the gauge head

upwards. The gauge ring should now fit easily into thepress head. If this is not thecase the applicator ram wouldnot be in a centred positionand the mounting plate of thepress has to be adjusted. The special design of thepress gauge base plate allowsfree access to the press mounting plate fixing screws.

TE Connectivity offers semi- and fully-automatic modulesfor resistance compact welding of terminals. Thisresistance welding processallows us to achieve minimumtransitional resistance betweenconductor and contact, higher current capacity andlong-term stability of the wiretermination.

Resistance WeldingModule

In this process, the bundle ofstrands in the conductor iscondensed into a block byside-mounted ceramic plates. After this the strand bundle iswelded to the contact by theintroduction of a powerfulcurrent via an electrode.

Typical features of the resistance welding unit offeredby TE Connectivity are a veryshort cycle time, a long electrode life time, a fully-automatical parameter settingprocess and the recording ofall process relevant data.
