American Airlines And China’s Hainan Airlines Launched New Codeshare Service

American Positioned As Strategic Partner To The 2012 Meet In Beijing Arts Festival

In ChinaWhat’s Going On

American Airlines and Beijing-based Hainan Airlines have implemented their new codeshare agreement, providing sig-nificant growth opportunities for American in China and for Hainan in the United States. Customers can now book these new code-share flights for travel beginning March 25.

The codeshare relationship comple-ments American’s existing service to China. Currently, American operates nonstop ser-vice in three U.S.-China markets: Chicago O’Hare-Beijing, Chicago O’Hare-Shanghai and Los Angeles-Shanghai. American and American Eagle offer more than 450 daily

departures from Chicago O’Hare, and nearly 150 daily departures from Los Angeles.

The codeshare agreement includes:• Display of AA’s flight numbers (AA*) on

Hainan flights between Seattle and Beijing as well as on Hainan flights beyond Beijing to Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Kunming and Urumqi.

• Display of Hainan’s flight numbers (HU*) on American flights between Chicago and Beijing and Shanghai, Los Angeles and Shanghai, as well as on American flights to and from 12 other cities in the U.S.

Hainan, a Skytrax 5-Star airline, oper-ates more than 2,800 weekly flights to cities throughout China as well as to other destina-tions in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and North America. From its Beijing hub, Hainan offers more than 400 weekly flights, including service to more than 60 Chinese cities.

The agreement between American and Hainan increases American’s presence throughout Asia. The two airlines are working to provide additional benefits to their custom-ers in the future.

The China Arts & Entertainment Group (CAEG) and Ministry of Culture announced its schedule and lineup of the 2012 Meet In Beijing Arts Festival at a press conference held on March 22. American and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), China’s second largest bank are positioned as strategic partners with CAEG.

“At American Airlines, we serve as a

bridge between cultures and people – and in the process make the world a slightly smaller place. That is why we so strongly support the Meet in Beijing Arts Festival. The Festival is a wonderful example of people-to-people ex-change promoting trust and understanding between individuals from around the world. This is the 12th Meet in Beijing Arts Festival and this event continues to build numerous

links between China and the United States. We congratulate the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China for making the Meet in Beijing Arts Festival the largest such festival in Asia and we are proud to contribute to the success of this year’s event.” said Tom Horton, Chairman, President and CEO, AMR Corp. and American Airlines.
