Podcast Review

THE (PARTICULARLY) GOOD-- what works?

THE BAD-ineffective

THE REALLY UGLY-more hassle than they’re worth

Concisely covered revision topics with clear narrative, pictures, graphs, diagrams.

Many too long, monotonous and hard work.

Those that wont load/take too long/ keep freezing etc

A clinical case e.g. patient describing symptoms with narrated approaches to cases/thought process/summary questions

Poor quality visuals worse than no visuals

Videos of lecturer with no added slides/visual information. Might as well be podcast.

Anatomy narrative with specimens Non-specific titles and lack of

topic overviews.

Randomly inserted slides just for the sake of it with no added value.

Ultrasonography/radiology/microscopy/fundic examination slides with interpretation narrative and cursor directing.

Unexplained or mistimed graphs, diagrams etc

Those that try to pitch at multiple audiences-confusing.

Feedback from 57 recent RVC graduates

98 % said they would like podcasts for revision if they covered

topics in a concise manner.

96% said they would prefer added visual aids such as lecture

slides/diagrams.

32% were interested in looking at topics more in depth or

listening to podcasts about RVC research topics.

Summary/ approaches to thinking were deemed more useful.
