COMPLETE CAREER ASSESSMENTS WEEK 1

Career assessments serve many purposes and can help you narrow or expand your career options, assist with greater self-awareness, provide you with language to talk about your interests, values, skills, personality type and strengths. Not all

career assessments are the same. We only use validated, reliable career assessment tools.

INTEREST ASSESSMENT (TAKEN ONLINE) The O*NET Interest Profiler is a free career assessment that takes about 10 minutes

to complete online and can help you discover the type of work activities and occupations that you would like and find exciting. The assessment will help you

identify and learn about broad interest areas most relevant to yourself. Be sure to write down or print your results. To begin the assessment, copy the link below:

PERSONALITY TYPE ASSESSMENT (TAKEN ONLINE) 16 Personalities will provide information about your personality type, similar to the

Myers Briggs Type Indicator assessment. It will take you about 10 minutes to complete. Be sure to write down or print your results.

VALUES ASSESSMENT Values are one of the most important parts of why we stay in or change our careers. Over time, it’s likely that values will shift, which is why it’s important to start here

when thinking of your next role. If you can identify your core, non-negotiable values now, you will be much more satisfied with your next role. When completing the worksheet on page 10, only allow yourself to have 3-5 “very important” values.

Once you have identified your core values, you can then ask tailored questions during an interview or informational interview to be sure that the company's values

are in line with yours.

SKILLS ASSESSMENT While you may be skilled at many different tasks, it’s likely you don’t enjoy them

equally. Taking time to reflect on your skills (pages 16-18) and discover what skills you most enjoy will assist you in the process of getting a career that you are more

satisfied with. Take a moment to complete the skills checklist here and identify not just what you can do, but what you enjoy doing!
