Determine Your Gate Opening:

Measure opening between posts where gate will be located. Subtract 61⁄1⁄1 4⁄4⁄ " from opening. This is the length you will cut your rails for gate (Fig. 1).

NOTE: Maximum width of opening between posts is 48".

Cut Rails To Desired Length:

Align bottom rail, top rail and top rail cap. Cut all to same lengths with a � ne-tooth carbide blade.

Assemble Rails For Gate:

a. Place top and bottom rail on a smooth, � at and clean surface. Then, align the top and bottom rails so that the ridges inside the rails are oriented on the same side (Fig. 2).

NOTE: There are two (2) ridges on both sides that are different sizes.

b. Insert all balusters through the square holes in rails, making sure the hole in each baluster goes in the same direction facing the side with the two (2) small ridges (Fig. 3).

c. Make sure the balusters in the rails are about 2" above the rail and in-line with each other (Fig. 3).

d. Snap in bumps from locking strip into holes of the baluster for both top and bottom rails. Make sure arrows on locking strip face rails (Fig. 4).

e. There will be some extra locking strip at the end of install. Use scissors or a utility knife to trim off the excess, while leaving approximately 2" after the last engaged bump.

f. Pull the top and bottom rails towards ends, guiding the rails over the locking strips until snug.

g. Stand rail section up and fully lock balusters into the rails. Place one foot on the top of the bottom rail, between the second and third baluster while at the same time placing a hand under the bottom of the top rail between the second and third baluster. Push with foot and pull with hand until locking is completed. You should hear a snap as the strip locks into the rail. Repeat this process for the middle and the end of the panel (Fig. 5 & 6).

NOTE:If no snap is heard or felt, use a rubber mallet to tap underneath of top rail to ensure a full connection.

Assemble Brackets To Uprights:

Bottom Brackets

a. For Cambridge and Winchester styles:From bottom of upright mark at 1⁄1⁄1 4⁄4⁄ ". This is the location of the bottom of the bottom bracket (Fig. 7).

For VersaRail styles:From bottom of upright mark at 11⁄1⁄1 2⁄2⁄ ". This is the location of the bottom of the bottom bracket (Fig. 8).

b. Align bottom of bracket to this line.

c. Pre-drill holes though upright and aluminum with 1⁄1⁄1 8⁄8⁄ " drill bit. Screw in with two (2) 1" screws as provided in the rail bracket kit (Fig. 9).

Top BracketsTop Brackets

a. For Cambridge and Winchester styles:From bottom of upright mark 321⁄1⁄1 16⁄16⁄ " for 36" gates and 381⁄1⁄1 16⁄16⁄ " for 42" gates. This is the location of the bottom of the top bracket (Fig. 7).

For VersaRail styles:From bottom of upright mark 325⁄5⁄5 16⁄16⁄ " for 36" gates and 385⁄5⁄5 16⁄16⁄ " for 42" gates. This is the location of the bottom of the top bracket (Fig. 8).

b. Repeat Step 4b-4c for the top rail bracket (at line made in Step 4d). Install two (2) 1" screws.

c. Test � t the rail panel. Once proper � t is ensured, press bottom bracket covers onto the ends of the bottom rail (Fig. 10).

Permanently Attach Rails To Brackets:

a. Press top rail cap and end covers onto the top rail that was cut in Step 1 onto the top of the panel (Fig. 11). Press down on the top rail to ensure that it � ts snug onto the panel and that the top rail end covers are being held in place by the line bracket.

b. Using the holes in the bracket as a guide, drill two (2) 1⁄1⁄1 8⁄8⁄ " holes under the bottom of the rail (Fig. 12). Be careful not to drill though the top of the top rail (Fig. 13). Drive two (2) 11⁄1⁄1 2⁄2⁄ " screws up through the holes locking the bracket, panel and top rail together.

c. Pre-drill 1⁄1⁄1 8⁄8⁄ " hole into side of bottom bracket (one per bracket) (Fig. 14).

NOTE:Make sure the bottom rail is completely seated in the bottom bracket. Be sure to drill the hole in the center of the bracket (Fig. 14).

d. Drive a #8 x 3⁄3⁄3 4⁄4⁄ " screw into the bottom bracket holes on side.

Mount Hinges To Gate:

a. Center the provided Boerboel® butter� y hinges on the upright to align with the top and bottom rails of gate and mark screw holes.

b. Pre-drill holes (Fig. 15).

c. Screw in with two (2) screws (provided with hinge).

Hinge Tension Adjustment

NOTE: HINGE TENSION IS PRE-SET AT THE FACTORY AND USUALLY DOES NOT REQUIRE ADJUSTMENT.If you wish to change tension setting/gate swing speed, or completely disable the self-closing feature, please see the following:

a. Place included allen wrench into head of tension adjustment pin in hinge. The head is at the end closest to the + or - symbol on the hinge barrel (Fig. 16).

b. While holding the tension adjustment pin with allen wrench, press the opposite end of the pin into the hinge barrel. This will cause the head of the tension adjustment pin to extend beyond the hinge barrel (Fig. 16).

NOTE:DO NOT remove the allen wrench or release the tension on the tension adjustment pin at any time during the adjustment.

c. Following the indicators on the + or - symbol on the hinge barrel, turn the tension adjustment pin toward + to tighten, or toward - to loosen. DO NOT adjust by more than 1⁄1⁄1 4⁄4⁄ turn, unless you want to disable the self-closing feature (Fig. 16).

- Self-closing feature can be disabled by loosening the tension adjustment pin one full turn.

- Do not over-tighten or over-loosen the tension adjustment pin, as this may damage the tension spring.

d. When you have set the desired tension, press down on the head of the tension adjustment pin to lock it back into the hinge barrel. Tabs on pin head will � t into notches in hinge barrel when pin is in fully locked position (Fig. 17).

Mounting The Cross Braces:

a. On one side of gate, extend the � rst brace across gate to the uprights, noting one side will be adjacent to hinge (Fig. 18).

b. Once length is determined, mark brace in center with pencil line (Fig. 19).

c. Pre-drill though the two provided brace holes with 1⁄1⁄1 8⁄8⁄ " drill bit. Then, secure brace together at the measured length with provided #8 x 3⁄3⁄3 8⁄8⁄ " blunt end screws (2) in the center of the brace (Fig. 20).

d. Attach brace to uprights. Pre-drill one end of brace with a 1⁄1⁄1 8⁄8⁄ " drill bit through upright, then anchor the brace to the upright with #8 x 3⁄3⁄3 4⁄4⁄ " screw. Repeat for other end of brace (Fig. 21).

e. Flip rail over. Repeat instructions 7a–7d, being sure to install second brace on opposite side of gate, and opposite orientation of brace making an "X" (Fig. 22).

Hang Assembled Gate To Post:

a. Place two 2" tall wood blocks (not included) under the bottom rail of the gate. Align gate between the posts (Fig. 22).

b. Secure hinges to posts with 1" Phillips screws as provided with hinges.

c. Adjust tension of hinges if necessary – See "Hinge Tension Adjustment".

d. Remove the temporary wood blocks.

Install Gravity Latch:

Place the latch at desired height on gate/post. Latch should be on same side of gate, opposite of hinges.

a. Once hinges are installed and gate is aligned, mark pilot holes for latch on post and gate through screw holes. Then drill using 3⁄3⁄3 32⁄32⁄ " bit.

b. Measure and install latch with six (6) 1" Phillips screws as provided with the latch. The latch striker is installed on the gate � rst and then install the latch catch onto the gate post (Fig. 23).

Separate and distinct warranties for hardware and other products are not covered under this warranty.

What this warranty does not cover: This limited warranty does not cover damage resulting from accident, unreasonable use, neglect, alteration, improper service, improper installation, acts of God or any other causes not arising out of defects in materials or workmanship. Additionally, this warranty does not cover costs of installation, removal, reinstallation or surface mold and mildew created by excessive environmental conditions. Any service or repair provided outside the scope of this limited warranty shall be at Barrette Outdoor Living’s rate and terms then in effect.

What do we do to correct the problems? Should your Barrette Outdoor Living product prove defective under warranty, reference the website or call the phone number listed below. Your problem will be assigned a tracking number and an authorized Barrette Outdoor Living representative will contact you to arrange a convenient time to schedule an onsite inspection, or request pictures, if need be. If after inspection product is deemed to be manufacturer defect we will make arrangements to rectify the issue. You must have proof of your purchase in order for the problem to be corrected.

Transferee Coverage: Warranty coverage will be extended to one transferee on the above listed products with the following limitations. Transferee must obtain an original or copy of the initial sales receipt (with proof of date) from the previous owner(s). Additionally, if fence is purchased from a builder or installer, documentation must be supplied that names the product installed on property and date of transfer.

Determinar la abertura de la puerta:Mida la abertura entre los postes en donde se instalará la puerta. Reste 14 cm (6 1⁄1⁄1 4⁄4⁄ ") desde la abertura. Esta es la longitud a la que cortará los travesaños para la puerta (Fig. 1).

NOTA:El ancho máximo de abertura entre los postes es de 120 cm (48").

Cortar los travesaños a la longitud deseada:Alinee el travesaño inferior, el travesaño superior y la tapa de travesaño superior. Corte todo a la misma longitud con una hoja de carburo de dientes � nos.

Ensamblar los travesaños de la puerta:a. Coloque los travesaños superior e inferior sobre una

super� cie lisa, plana y limpia. A continuación, alinee los travesaños superior e inferior de modo que las aristas dentro de los travesaños queden orientadas hacia el mismo lado (Fig. 2).

NOTA:Hay dos (2) aristas en ambos lados, pero de diferentes tamaños.

b. Inserte los barrotes en los ori� cios cuadrados en los travesaños teniendo cuidado de que los ori� cios en los barrotes apunten en la misma dirección hacia el lado con las dos (dos) aristas pequeñas (Fig. 3).

c. Compruebe que los barrotes en los travesaños estén aproximadamente 5cm o 2" por encima del travesaño y en línea el uno con el otro (Fig. 3).

d. Encaje las protuberancias de la tira sujetadora en los ori� cios de los barrotes en los travesaños superior e inferior. Compruebe que las � echas en la tira sujetadora estén orientadas hacia los travesaños (Fig, 4).

e. Al � nal de la instalación quedará algo de tira sujetadora. Utilice tijeras o un cuchillo para cortar el sobrante, dejando aproximadamente 5 cm (2") después de la última protuberancia encajada.

f. Tire de los travesaños superior e inferior hacia los extremos, guiando los travesaños sobre las tiras sujetadoras hasta que queden bien apretados.

g. Enderece la sección de baranda y � je los barrotes completamente a los travesaños. Coloque un pie en la parte superior del travesaño inferior, entre el segundo y el tercer barrote, mientras coloca al mismo tiempo una mano por debajo del travesaño superior, entre el segundo y el tercer barrote. Empuje con el pie y tire con la mano hasta que encaje completamente.Debe escuchar un chasquido cuando la tira encaja en el travesaño. Repita este proceso en la parte intermedia y � nal del panel (Fig. 5 y 6).

NOTA:Si no escucha ni siente un chasquido, utilice un mazo de goma para golpetear por debajo del travesaño superior para asegurar una conexión completa.

Ensamblar los soportes en los soportes verticales:

a. En el caso de los estilos Cambridge y Winchester: Desde la parte inferior del soporte vertical, marque una

línea a 0.635 cm (1⁄1⁄1 4⁄4⁄ "). Esta es la ubicación de la parte inferior del soporte inferior (Fig. 7).

En el caso de los estilos VersaRail: Desde la parte inferior del soporte vertical, marque una

línea a 3.80 cm o (11⁄1⁄1 2⁄2⁄ "). Esta es la ubicación de la parte inferior del soporte inferior (Fig. 8).

b. Alinee la parte inferior del soporte con esta línea.c. Taladre los ori� cios atravesando el soporte vertical y

el refuerzo de aluminio con una broca de 1⁄1⁄1 8⁄8⁄ ". Atornille con dos (2) tornillos de 1" incluidos en el kit de soportes de travesaños (Fig. 9).

a. En el caso de los estilos Cambridge y Winchester: Desde la parte inferior de la marca en el soporte vertical, 81.44 cm (321⁄1⁄1 16⁄16⁄ ") en puertas de 91.44 cm (36") y 96.68 cm (381⁄1⁄1 16⁄16⁄ ") en puertas de 106.68 cm (42"). Esta es la ubicación de la parte inferior del soporte superior (Fig. 7).En el caso de los estilos VersaRail:

Desde la parte inferior de la marca en el soporte vertical, 82.07 cm (32 5⁄16") en puertas de 91.44 cm (36") y 97.31 cm (38 5⁄16") en puertas de 106.68 cm (42"). Esta es la ubicación de la parte inferior del soporte superior (Fig. 8).

b. Repita los pasos 3b y 3c para el soporte del travesaño superior (con la línea hecha en el paso 3d). Instale dos (2) tornillos de 1".

c. Compruebe la colocación del panel de barandal. Una vez que se garantice el ajuste, presione las cubiertas de soporte inferior en los extremos del travesaño inferior (Fig. 10).

c. Taladre un ori� cio de 1⁄1⁄1 8⁄8⁄ " por un costado del soporte inferior (uno por cada soporte) (Fig. 14).

NOTA:Compruebe que el travesaño inferior descanse completamente en el soporte inferior. Asegúrese de perforar el ori� cio en el centro del soporte (Fig. 14).

d. Coloque un tornillo #8 de 3⁄3⁄3 4⁄4⁄ " en los agujeros del soporte inferior en el costado.

Instalar las bisagras en la puerta:

a. Centre las bisagras de mariposa Boerboel® en el soporte vertical para alinearlas con los travesaños superior e inferior de la puerta y marque los agujeros de los tornillos.

b. Taladre los agujeros a través de los refuerzos de aluminio (Fig. 15).

c. Atornille con dos (2) tornillos (incluidos con la bisagra)

Ajuste de tensión de la bisagra:

NOTA:LA TENSIÓN DE LA BISAGRA SE AJUSTA EN LA FÁBRICA y POR LO GENERAL NO REQUIERE AJUSTE. Si desea cambiar el ajuste de la tensión o la velocidad de oscilación de la puerta, o si desea desactivar por completo la función de cierre automático, por favor consulte a continuación:

a. Coloque la llave Allen incluida en la cabeza del perno de ajuste de tensión en la bisagra. La cabeza está en el extremo más cercano al símbolo + o - en el barril de la bisagra (Fig. 16).

b. Mientras sostiene el perno de ajuste de tensión con la llave Allen, presione el extremo opuesto del perno hacia el barril de la bisagra. Esto hará que la cabeza del perno de ajuste de tensión se extienda más allá del barril de la bisagra (Fig. 16).

NOTA:NO retire la llave Allen ni suelte el perno de ajuste de tensión en ningún momento durante el procedimiento de ajuste.

c. Siguiendo los indicadores en el símbolo de + o - en el barril de la bisagra, gire el perno de ajuste de tensión hacia el signo de + para apretar o hacia el signo de - para a� ojar. NO ajuste más de 1⁄4 de vuelta, a menos que desee desactivar la función de cierre automático (Fig. 16).

- La función de cierre automático se puede desactivar a� ojando el perno de ajuste de tensión una vuelta completa.

- No apriete o a� oje el perno de ajuste de tensión en exceso, ya que esto podría dañar el resorte de tensión.

d. Cuando se ha de� nido la tensión deseada, presione hacia abajo sobre la cabeza del perno de ajuste de la tensión para bloquearlo de vuelta en el barril de la bisagra. Las lengüetas en la cabeza del perno encajan en las muescas del barril de la bisagra cuando el perno está completamente bloqueado (Fig. 17).

Montaje de los tirantes transversales:

a. En un lado de la puerta, extienda el tirante a todo lo largo de la puerta hasta los soportes verticales; tenga en cuenta que uno de los lados estará adyacente a la bisagra (Fig. 18).

b. Una vez que determine la longitud, marque el tirante en el centro con un lápiz (Fig. 19).

c. Taladre un agujero a través de los dos ori� cios de tirante provistos con una broca de 1/8". Luego, � je el tirante a la longitud medida con los dos (2) tornillos de extremo romo #8 de 3⁄3⁄3 8⁄8⁄ " en el centro del tirante (Fig. 20).

d. Fije el tirante en los soportes verticales. Perfore un extremo del tirante con una broca de 1⁄1⁄1 8⁄8⁄ " a través del soporte vertical y el aluminio en el interior del soporte vertical y, a continuación, ancle el tirante al soporte vertical con el tornillo #8 de 3⁄3⁄3 4⁄4⁄ ". Colgar la puerta ensamblada en el poste:

a. Coloque dos bloques de madera de 5cm (2") de altura (no incluidos) debajo del travesaño inferior de la puerta. Alinee la puerta entre los postes (Fig. 22).

b. Atornille las bisagras con los tornillos Phillips de 1" incluidos con las bisagras.

c. Ajuste la tensión de las bisagras, si es necesario; consulte la sección "Ajuste de tensión de la bisagra".

d. Remueva los bloques de madera temporales.

Instalar la tranca de gravedad:

Coloque la tranca a la altura deseada en la puerta o poste.

La tranca debe estar en el mismo lado de la puerta, en el lado opuesto de las bisagras.

a. Una vez que las bisagras estén instaladas y la puerta esté alineada, marque los agujeros para la tranca en el poste y en la puerta a través de los agujeros para tornillos. A continuación, perfore con una broca de 3⁄3⁄3 32⁄32⁄ ".

b. Mida e instale la tranca con los seis (6) tornillos Phillips de 1" incluidos con la tranca. La traba del cerrojo se instala primero en la puerta y, a continuación, instale la tranca en el poste de la puerta (Fig. 23).
